Positive experience and a few suggestions

We enjoyed our week at resort. Great location, nice beach, great food and NO noisy late night parties. (👍) Rooms, especially bathrooms, could use some sprucing up, a few more hooks in bathroom would be helpful to hang towels or wet bathing suits. While the restaurant near beach is casual, we felt that a bathing suit cover up or tee shirts and footwear should be mandatory for both sanitary reasons and respect of other guests and staff. It would have been nice to know which days certain restaurants were closed in advance so we could plan accordingly. The entertainment team did its best to get guests to participate in activities but it was ‘tough crowd’. A lot of people just want to chill! However, better communication of what activities and when they occur might help (wifi was not always reliable). We didn’t have any issues getting lounge chairs on beach or by pool but suspect it may be busier earlier in the season.

    Don't be fooled

I typically do not rate resorts. We have traveled quite extensively but felt it necessary to write a review. Upon arrival we were "received well". Ana at the front desk shared their scripted upgrade program. We were tired and did not commit and said we could upgrade the next morning. We decided to lay the 420 USD for the upgrade. Don't do it. It is definitely not worth the money. I will leave it there. Here is the bad part. We are Canadian and traveled to the resort with US dollars for tips and Dominican Pesos. We ordered the pesos from a Canadian banking institution and the currency arrived in larger bills. Every day we attempted to ask them to break down our pesos as we wanted to tip the workers. Everyday it was the same answer..."NO" come back tomorrow. Just ridiculous. No luck the entire week. We paid 420 USD for an upgrade and at the time of check out we requested a late check out. The answer again was a hard "NO". The first two days our coffee mugs were left on the counter in our room and not picked up, bathroom not cleaned etc. They only thing they did was throw the bed together and change the towels. No wipe down of the bathroom at all. The reason I am explaining this is....low and behold we had friendly cockrocches in the bathroom! We approached the staff gently and explainf the situation. They said they would spray the room which I was nervous of. They proceeded that evening to do so. Low and behold, night two another cockroach. We approached them again and the same response. We can send someone to clean..meaning spray. The third night another cockroach. They offered to mive us but at this point we were three days in and really did not feel like moving. A side note...we returned to the room and there was a notice in our door and apparently the entire resort asking if they could fumigate the room. See attached photo. Are you fkin kidding me ! To lay all that money live with cockraches for a week. NOT COOL. So, no exchange in pesos, upgrade was useless, no late check out and COCKROACHES. The rooms are dated, which is ok. The grounds are well cared for. Staff some nice some indifferent. Customer service was a constant NO. For this reason, we will be sharing our story and won't be returning.

    Seventh Visit and Will Return

After being here in December, we once again returned to our "home away from home" and had an amazing time at the Princess Punta Cana. Can't say enough about the resort. From the management to all the staff, they make you feel welcome and appreciated. Ana and Angel greet you on arrival and they are wonderful. Alexander and his Customer Service team of Miguel and Carlos make sure you have everything you need. Nelson and Juan at the pool bar are absolutely the best and treated us like family (morning hugs). Nancy (more morning hugs) and her team make meal times a real treat. Shout outs to Adrian, Juanita, Ordalina, Ariel, Angel, Rosa, Aney, Francis, and Frank - apologize if I missed anyone, as they are all great. Felix, Emilio and Persio keep your drinks flowing at night! The entertainment is fun, and Jasmine's team will make sure to get you involved. As always, we were sad to leave, but will definitely return. Thanks again to all of you for looking after us and providing another wonderful vacation.

    Big Thumbs up!!!

What a great choice we made by switching our resorts at the last minute with all that was going on at Riu Republica. This resort had all the experiences you could hope for. Very laid back, mixed with some partying, good food and the staff was so welcoming and friendly. Couple shoutouts to Nelson the swim up bartender. Adrian and Frank our servers who went out of their way to make sure we were being attended to. Highly recommend this respect and would definitely return.

The only place to go punta cana, if you're looking for an adult's only experience and spa

I've traveled all over the world, and I'll tell you. I've never been to a place where the people who work there were so friendly and engaged. There was not a downside to this experience. The food was excellent. The people were excellent. The weather was excellent. It was an 11 out of 10 great value for the money. And clean, save wonderful environment to take your family or friends. Alexander Gomez and his crew. I've done a absolutely magnificent job. Thank you for looking after our birthdays so well. Also, we will see you soon.
