Christmas vacation
December is a great time to vacation in Mexico! The weather predicted a little rain and a lot of clouds but it was beautiful. Came back with a tan! Even the pools were warm! The resort is clean and well maintained. I was a little disappointed that there was nothing to say "Christmas" at the pools or outside of the lobby area, but the front was nicely decorated. I wish there were some Christmas themed drinks but Santiago at the sports bar made me something minty that tasted like Christmas in a glass so I was happy! Shout out to Rene and Julio at the pool bar for their excellent service. If you're thinking about where to go for a great trip, Riu Dunamar is a good choice!

Good for families and adults, some room for improvement
Second time visiting Dunamar, and must say the amount the staff do for you is amazing around the pool and in restaurants. The hotel is clean, and the opportunities to visit other riu hotels for their RIU Party brand is also a bonus - pool parties with all inclusive alcohol, and transfers to and back from hotel free of charge. There is a sense of non-trust of customers in these hotels however, there was an issue where one of our wristbands broke off and the receptionist demanded payment before he would replace, and did not believe it had broken off until i went to the other side of the hotel to find it and prove it. Also when checking out, your all inclusive wristband is cut off even if you have a long time until your transfer, you are given a small piece of paper giving you access to the services which could be easily lost, become wet, etc. Does the hotel not trust their customers and think they will sell the all inclusive band and not bin it? Overall the pools are amazing for both adults and children and the location of the hotel is a bonus to many as it is out of the way of the city, should you want a relaxing holiday. There is an alcohol and soft drinks cart which comes around the pools offering drinks saving walking to the bar, which is another bonus. If you would like to have an active holiday and do lots of excursions such as Xplor, Coco Bongo, etc. this may not be a suitable hotel due to the long transfer times with being located in quite a remote area. The Wi-Fi facilities are top quality and wi-fi is available all over the hotel (2 devices per person). The A-La Carte restaurants are good, food quality is good, would recommend italians and steakhouse.

RIU Dunamar
Overall, very good resort. The only negative aspect was the music was wy too loud around the 4 pools. Hard Rock or Thecno music starting at 10:00 am was not appropriate. Out of the 4 pools, one should be dedicated to adult with soft music.

Too loud! Everywhere! All the time!!
The staff was excellent. The place was extremely clean but it was noisy everywhere - morning, noon and night. We travelled as a group of 9 and all agreed that the noise ruined it for all of us and we would not return. The music started at 10am and could be heard at all the pools. The restaurants all had the music blasting. The sports bar, where you would go for coffee in the morning had loud music and the lobby bar, where you could to relax after dinner, was ridiculously loud. You could only talk to the person beside you and then you'd have to yell. None of us stayed up late because you couldn't have a conversation. There's no need to have it so loud all the time. You should be able to find a quiet place to hang out but that place did not exist.

Very Clean and Fun Hotel
It was one of the cleanest and well maintained hotels I have been in Mexico. Overall with 2 young kids it was a great vacation . Kids club ( RiuLand ) was very good with lots of activities for our 7 and 4 year olds. They loved it , wanted to be there every day. I would like to thank Jessi and Lynn for taking care of the kids with so much passion and smiles. My only complaint is the sizes of the double beds in the rooms . Rooms are so spacious and bright , we still cannot understand why these double beds were so small. It was so hard for 2 regular sized average person to sleep side by side. Basically these beds are for 1,5 person max. It was a challenge to sleep every night while trying not to fall off the bed every time you move around. We are used to booking reservations for the a-la-carte restaurants every night in the resorts but this hotel would not take any reservations and it was first come first serve basis. Because of this we were not able to go to the steakhouse which was their signature restaurant. And the other ones were so crowded while we were there they were giving out buzzers and asking to wait at least 1 hour every time we attempted to have dinner. I'm not sure if this is any better than making reservations to these restaurants daily . It was a bummer for us but for some it may be better if they don't like to plan ahead. The kids splash park and adult waterslides were great and fun. Drinks are up to par with the rest of the chain resorts. I'm not sure if it is always like that or if it is because we were there in December but ocean was extremely wild , our kids could not go in because of the waves. They were happy with all the pools in the resort.
