4 star rating BUT...
I like this hotel, this was my second visit in a year, happy to give it a 4 star rating BUT... Love the location, the beach is awesome with palms swaying overhead, pools are good, room was good and well maintained, quite good restaurants and great staff - all fine. Nice to see some staff that were there in Dec 2023. Would certainly prefer the highly amplified mariachi bands were confined to maybe an hour or gone altogether but they aren't part of the hotel - they play on the public beach. The BUT - this time was my $500 GoPro action camera was stolen while I went to the breakfast buffet at the Malecon. Was on a handle in my hat along with sunscreen. Have to leave stuff while getting food (can't carry both) and, being solo, no-one to watch my stuff. Just be cautious ppl.

Emerald Bay
The cleanliness was amazing! More than enough restaurants, bars and pools. Friendly staff. Safe place at night. However, my room 403 was about the six industrial air conditioning units and it was a constant howl loud enough to interfere with sleep. I didn't complain because I had already unpacked everything and didn't want to pack and move again. They should be aware of this problem though. Had problems with the wifi, for the first two days I had none and it took two trips to reception to get this fixed the first time. When it happened again towards the end of my stay they fixed it right away. Elevators are incredibly slow.

Disappointed
I recently stayed at the RIU hotel in Mazatlán, Mexico, and I unfortunately experienced a disparity in service. It appeared that as a Black guest, my service was significantly delayed, especially when waiting at the bar. I often found myself standing there for an extended period before being acknowledged by the bartender. This kind of treatment is disappointing and unacceptable.
