  My first time at Riu Emerald Bay

  As a long time member of the Riu resorts, my only disappointment was that I was not up-grated even though the Hotel did not appear overly busy.

  Wonderful

  We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The view from the balcony is magnificent and the sunsets exceptional!! The pacific coast of Mexico remains our favorite.

  A Good Hotel to Visit

  Great building although some of our couple friend in old building were complaining about insect but mine was in new extension and was very clean, great staff, food mediocre , entertainment mediocre. Verity of drinks but you need to ask for extra shots to see effect.

  Immaculate

  Let me count the ways this place impressed me: 1. Immaculate. We constantly saw people cleaning, sweeping, washing and trimming everything from the walls, baseboards to windows. 2. Heated pools. Children could spend literally all day in the pool and never get cold. 3. The Food. Great variety. Only flaw may be that sometimes the buffet items were not hot. 4. Drinks. Great drinks and your favourite liquor brands on request. Servers around the pools were a very pleasant addition. As long as you tipped they kept them coming! 5. Sunwing. Our transfers were prompt and professional. 6. Waterslides. Especially for the over 10 crowd. There are 3 or 4 quite fast slides. For the littles, there is a separate area with smaller slides. 7. Chairs/recliners. There was an abundance of chairs available. Sometimes the ones actually poolside were unavailable, but there was always something available in the rows behind. The beach had plenty for everyone. 8. The beach. Beautiful, clean and the vendors are limited to areas outside roped sections. We were never bothered in the roped areas by sellers. Even on the sections allowed they were far from aggressive. A few things they need to work on: 1. WIFI. It was spotty outside the hotels themselves. 2. Specialty Restaurants. So frustrating to book. It must be done online. We were in a large group and could rarely get more than two people on to the site to book at one time. The front office was useless. Very very aggravating! 3. Entertainment. Not very impressive. 4. Beach activities. No kayaking, paddle boards, snorkelling, or other ocean activities, probably due to the undertows and larger waves. 5. Kids. Not much in the small kid area but the small waterslides. Kids got bored pretty fast with the area. All in all, we loved our two weeks here and definitely plan to return.

  Fantastic Staff

  We had a great stay mostly due to all the great staff. The entertainment crew were all so friendly and soon knew us by name. They were always so fun to chat with and a few great activities everyday we enjoyed. Some good shows at night especially the live music and the best rock band ever. . Many good waiters in the restaurants who tried to be quick with everything but happy to talk when they could. Many very personable. Front staff were helpful and some very nice. Lots of cleaning staff always around doing a great job. The food selection was a good variety and tasty. Some days were fantastic. The pools were a nice temperature this year with the exception of one not heated which was a good place if you wanted a quiet day. They were kept very clean also. The beach area is gorgeous and plenty of chairs. The room was comfortable. But we had lots of problems with the wifi. It was always kicking us off our devices. The one thing that was very disappointing was the lack of no smoking signs around the pools. Also seems there are less designated spots so people just lit up and smoked all over until the lifeguard told them the rules. We tried to mention it kindly to a couple different people but the one confrontation ruined our day. Not something we should have to do if it was just clear where not to smoke. This needs addressed for everyone to enjoy the resort.
