Place to come back
Over the years we spent our vacations at many countries, staying at many hotels. The Riu Latino Cancun is the only one we keep coming back. The main reason besides obvious warm sea and sunny weather is people. Humble men and women doing their job to make you feel comfortable. Marlene and Brian from Moctezuma restaurant, Lois Angel and Tony from Mezcal bar and many others - Stefane, Carlos, Juliana,…

Rio
Our stay was very nice. Our room view was construction site so that was not pleasant but we were not in the room so no worries. The food at buffet was good, the special restaurants were ok. Staff was beyond superior. Would do this again at a different area

Not worth the money!!!
if you are about the spring break vibe, this is the spot. Otherwise, you are better off somewhere else. The place is not cheap, the pools and facilities are nice but close at 7pm. Most of the restaurants are terrible, not even bad. The staff is either super friendly or terrible, nothing in between. They also tried to charge me an additional fee during my stay for no reason. drunk ppl in the hallways all night, rooms are newer but on a poorer quality

Could have been a 5 but the food ONG was awful
Hotel is beautiful The grounds were fantastic Room was beautiful Very, very clean hotel Service was great especially if you tip but not enough servers Food Practically the same food every day in the buffet Quality not good - overcooked pasta and no pasta to order Overcooked meat Salad bar was horrible - too much mayonnaise on salads Canned asparagus - yuck Tasteless tomatoes unless you get the tomatoes that are intended for the burgers Horrible hamburgers Pepe’s needs an overhaul Meat is cut too thin so a veal schnitzel is actually more breading than anything else Not enough chefs manning the different stations so they were always behind on making more food available Fried food was too oily Don’t try the Japanese restaurant; it is a buffet and the food is inedible (we actually walked out and had to go to the regular buffet for our dinner) It tells you something when you lose weight while on vacation. It is possible to cook tasty food while on a budget. RIU just needs to figure out how to do that

Hut or miss
Although this is Riu Latino the customer service was hit or miss with noticeable preference to serve the non-Latinos. Not all super friendly or with great attitudes. Breakfast was not great. Drinks were just okay. I can't say I would recommend this chain.
