Good Hotel
Have stayed here before so we booked again for 2 weeks in November/December. Cannot fault anything about our stay. Staff are good, nothing is too much trouble for them. Buffet style food, with the option to eat at an Italian, or Mexican restaurant, the restaurant on the beach which is the steakhouse is another option, but you have to book to eat there on the day, and you have to book it at 7.00 am in the morning, no idea why it cannot be booked at reception which is what you used to be able to do. Rooms are fine, if a little dated, clean towels every day, again nothing to complain about. Shuttle bus to the beach and 5th Avenue, all day, with the beachside bar and restaurant for guests., plenty of sun beds available for everybody. This hotel is cheaper than other RIU hotels mainly because it is not on the beach, but do not be put off by that, would happily say here again.

RIU tourist money grab.
Just booked and tried to pay in Mexican pesos, which I would present at check-in. Would not accept my payment in Mexican pesos as I am a Canadian. Told me that I had to pay in the country that appeared in my passport. Of course, they will then charge me a conversion rate. Even though I insisted that I would prefer to pay in Mexican pesos. Is that even legal. I am not allowed to use Mexican pesos to pay for a hotel in Mexico? Sounds like a scam to get tourists!

2nd great experience
For the second year in a row my wife and I have had an amazing experience at Riu Lupita. The staff is very kind and always at your service, and the food is great. Rooms and open areas are clean and luxurious.

November 24 - Rainy but warm!
Smallish hotel set back from the beach in lush gardens. Guests were mostly Mexican, Canadian or from South America - as a Brit I felt that we Europeans were very much in the majority but that was absolutely fine for me. It's a bit of a party hotel and I didn't get the best sleep at times due to guests returning to their rooms in the small hours of the morning or noise from the onsite Pacha disco a couple of nights. The staff were friendly, attentive and the room was always clean and comfortable - the air conditioning was excellent. The wildlife was a bonus - I don't think you'd see the birds and coatis if you were in one of the beach hotels. The bus service down to the Lupita beach club was very efficient. It runs every 30 minutes from the hotel and back. We spent most of our time down at the beach which is planted with palm trees which gave the shade - makes a change from endless umbrellas. Food was pretty much typical Riu if you've visited one before. The wine was awful, the guacamole was amazing, the gin and tonics didn't really taste of gin, but a tip seemed to make a difference.
