This is an easy Hotel to review as we couldn’t really fault anything about our stay. We had a side sea view room which had the afternoon sun on the balcony. Nice large room with good bathroom and very little noise. Nice pool area with no issues getting a sun bed. We also made use of the indoor pool as water bit warmer. The restaurant food was excellent loads of choices at every meal. Some comments say Hotel is remote but we didn’t feel this as we made use of local buses and the Hotels shuttle coach. In fact it was nice to get back to the Hotel after the busyness of Funchal. All the staff were lovely and friendly. We would definitely recommend this Hotel and would love to stay there again.

Excellent hotel & staff
Good rooms, very high standards of cleanliness. All staff friendly and helpful. Despite large numbers the catering was of a high standard. A reasonable distance from Funchal but a free regular bus service provided. We would definitely recommend to others and return.

Lovely stay!
We booked this hotel 2 weeks before we arrived. We've stayed in a different Riu hotel previously and really enjoyed it so wanted to find another hotel to try. This hotel was lovely, good distance from the airport and the capital city. The room was nice although the air con was quite noisy and sometimes felt that it wasn't cooling the room enough. The bathroom was nice and the shower ensured water didn't spill everywhere. The buffet was for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it had a great variety of options including local dishes. We enjoyed trying different fishes from the area. The drinks were included and there are 2 bars to get drinks from all day. The hotel staff provide leaflets for excursions and we had a good tour of the West side of the island. There is also a free shuttle bus to Funchal every day that needs pre booking so you can spend a few hours in the capital and then come back to the hotel in the afternoon.

Fantastic Staff.
Great Hotel with great rooms and great views. The food is typical all inclusive, but nicely cooked and presented. The drinks are okay, but there were no branded spirits available and the cocktails were already mixed up. What makes this Hotel stand out is the fantastic staff. They cannot do enough for you and genuinely do want to give the best service. Everyone seemed very happy and worked extremely hard. It was also nice to see a visible presence of the senior management team working alongside their teams to ensure all guests enjoyed the service on offer. We do though have only one slight criticism and that is the Speciality Restaurant is very underwhelming. This is our opinion though. The food served was very mediocre and the service given was lacking the same enthusiasm that you get when dining in the main restaurant. We felt rushed and they wanted you out quickly so that they could lock the doors and go home. Don’t get me wrong the experience did not spoil our stay and still gave 5 stars because overall 99% of our experience was fantastic.

The staff are the jewel here.
Lovely hotel that is very clean and well looked after. The position isn’t the best being far from anywhere, although there is a free bus into town but the timings aren’t great. The food I’d of excellent quality and nicely presented if a little repetitive. But the star of the show are the restaurant staff, they are excellent, very attentive and work so hard, plus they all appear to get on so well. Drinks are of good quality and plentiful. Entertainment each evening is ok, not of cruises quality but ok.
