Nice and relaxing
There is very little you can fault at this hotel. It is very well managed all the staff in every department give excellent service. There are plenty of choices in the restaurant. The only thing we miss is the bar waiter service as that is what we prefer on holiday. We have been to this hotel. eighteen times and it has always been enjoyable.

Nice hotel with good food
We have stayed at this hotel before and enjoy the food, the location but most of all the fabulous weather. The entertainment was a bit hit and miss but overall we enjoyed our stay

Very relaxing hotel.
Everything was very good. Comfortable rooms and friendly service. Staff friendly and efficient. Food mostly good and plenty of choice. Would have preferred table service in the bars and would have preferred a better selection of wines in the main dining room.

Really good hotel which is well kept. The rooms are airy and the cleaning staff do a brilliant job. The pool areas are of a good size and the pool water was of a satisfactory temperature. All staff at the hotel were most helpful. The alcoholic drinks at the bar did not have the alcoholic strength of standard spirits inUK but were nonetheless pleasant. The food was generally of a fair to average standard as one might expect from an AE holiday. Location of hotel was disappointing in respect of it's isolation but there was however a free bus shuttle to the capital.Overall, very good value and ideal for a relaxing break if you get the weather.

Beautiful hotel and fabulous food
My son and I have wanted to go to madeira for a while so decided to book the riu as we have stayed in others. We were not disappointed.the hotel is in a very quiet area which was ideal for us. There is a free daily bus into funchal which you have to book and the bus is a large coach.excellent service. You can book trips either with your reps at the hotel or at reception with private companies which the receptionists will book for you. We did many private trips and they were excellent. Madeira is beautiful. The hotel is lovely.modern and clean. Our room was a side sea view and was large with plenty of wardrobe space.telly,fridge,kettle,sofa. The bathroom had a very large walk in shower.our room was cleaned everyday. Lovely big balcony. There are only 2 negatives I could say regarding the hotel.. we could clearly hear the evening entertainment in our room and I go to bed around 10 but thankfully it always stopped between 10-11 pm. You can also clearly hear noise in the outside corridors in your room but as most guests tend to be quiet so this wasn't too much of a problem. The hotel receptionists are lovely and very helpful. The bar staff we had dealings with were quite miserable and we never received a single smile but the few cocktails we had were lovely. Some of the restaurant staff were also quite miserable but we just moved into a different section from then on and the others were lovely. This takes me onto the food and I can say is it was fabulous ! Huge choice at all 3 mealtimes and absolutely delicious. I put on a stone in weight ! The chefs are superb. We loved our stay at this hotel and we loved beautiful madeira so we will be back
