MET MORE THAN MY EXPECTATIONS!
We chose the RIU ANTILLAS because 1) we wanted no children(no insult to anyone!) 2)*** all inclusive primarily just had in mind we will use it for breakfast possible lunch and day drinking.. well I MUST SAY EVERYTHING EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!! we were on the 12th floor #1206 they called it a "jr.suite w/ ocean view" wonderful ocean view ,great CLEAN ROOM good AC ,king size comfortable bed a huge shower with 2 different shower heads, great water pressure...2 seperate sinks a plus for me! now THE FOOD.. yes, the "restaurants" that DO require reservations get filled very very early BUT if you dont mind eating about 8-8;30 pm you will be just fine..which we were(like going out with friends to dinner on a sat. night!) the Arubian Steakhouse was good, i dont prefer steak but went because my other half loves it...he had a NY strip which he said was quite delicious and I had a VERY GOOD LOBSTER TAIL! with as many sides as you wish.. NOW..one night we didnt feel like waiting for a reservation, so we went to the BUFFET. IT WAS OUTSTANDING!! EVERY NIGHT IS A DIFFERENT THEME&CULINARY ..One night was Latin food -one night Arubian-one night Mexican as so fourth.. I AM VERY PICKY and everything was delicious!! AND live music to the theme of the night .. My original plan to go out in town for dinner ASSUMING the all inclusive food was going to be mediocre. WRONG!! it truly was wonderful!! the staff was always pleasant and eager to help! the POOL... so YES.. the downside.. you DO need to go EARLY ,that's ONLY to get a really good spot! ( i always went about 7;15 am ) and was able to choose a great spot at the pool and/or a beach hut) sometimes i would just put my towel down and go back to bed ! lol.... there is ALWAYS a wait staff coming around with fresh glasses of lemon ice water and asking if you would like a drink... needless to say the RIU ANTILLAS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS and I will be going back in FEB! see you soon :)

Good not Great.
Awesome resort as I travelled with 31 other people for a wedding. Great location and the beach access is awesome. Although recently upgraded, things are showing their age (Elevators, doors). It was hit and miss with staff. Some are just in it for the tips, others seem to care about just having a job. Food was just good, but you can use the buffet restaurant at the Palace next door and I suggest you do. The service there was much better, but overall a good resort.

Excellent vacation
I had visit Aruba for the first time by cruise, but this was the first time staying at Aruba for a whole week at an all-inclusive hotel. I loved the RIU Hotel. It was very nice, beautiful rooms, pools, accessible beach area etc. It was a gorgeous overall hotel. I think the entertainment can work harder in terms of having more live music and shows plus the host at entertainment nights can level up a bit giving more animation to the people. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will love to visit again. I only hope we had straight flight to Aruba from Puerto Rico being a tropical island too. The big hassle was taking two planes and having to go through immigration twice. But that has nothing to do with the hotel. Thank God having a wonderful time at the hotel made us forget about all the tiredness of our flights.

don't expect extras
Getting into the Steak house is like getting into a fancy nightclub who's bouncer picks and chooses who gets in and who does not. They told us line to get in start at 6pm --- but people passed us in the line with a pager and when we asked how they got a pager we were told they got there earlier, at 5:45. But line start at 6pm. (?). Others got RESERVATIONS! they told us that was impossible to do. By the time we left the Steak house line, it was too late to try the Italian restaurant. So we left the premise for dinner, money i didn't expect to spend. Also upon check-in we were NOT told you could get floats, snorkel equipment and other fun toys. I rented a floatie, cause i was not told the hotel supplied them. Why not put that on some paper you give us when entering? I didn't find out until i was heading back to the hotel and saw a postboard at the other Riu advertising that! The place is clean, but plan on only eating the buffett, unless you are a lucky one that wins the lottery into one of the dinner restaurants on premise.
