Jan 21, 2025Roaches, Mold in Beds, Poor Service DO NOT STAY HERE
We are currently staying in the RIU Palace Montego Bay. The stay has been so awful I’m documenting in real time and will post the entire review once we leave. To give perspective we are two working professionals in our early 40s. We are pretty well traveled. We decided on this hotel because we read you can check into this hotel and have access to the RIU Montego Bay and the RIU reggae. We typically don’t go to places that are known for parties but wanted to try something different for a change. We are regretting that decision. Hotel grounds and rooms Terrible. I would give this zero stars. Lots of deferred maintenance. Upon our arrival our room was switched 3 times because the first 2 rooms had visible black mold on the mattress (see photos). Once they placed us in a room that didn’t have visible mold on the mattresses the downward spiral of poor service and deferred maintenance didn’t stop there. There is mold in the bathrooms as well. To be frank, the entire hotel needs to be redone. It’s a dump. WiFi The WiFi is slow and you can only have 4-5 devices under your log in at once. Checkout is at noon and at around 9-10am you will loose access to to WiFi. Service Awful. The male employees constantly flirt with the female guests. I was aggressively flirted with and made uncomfortable by several of the male employees. Apparently this is an acceptable practice as they seemed to be comfortable doing this with several female guests. They also place a basket with money in it at the Buffett to suggest a tip should be left there. A tip for what exactly? This is distasteful. The service is slow and the staff is rude. We called for something as simple as extra wash cloths and it took over six (6) hours and 4 request to get what we asked for. One individual we spoke to at the front desk said the hotel was running low on wash cloths. What?? Wash them! What kind of nonsense is this? Bugs We found a roach alive in the refrigerator (see photo). We found a dead roach at the Buffett see photo Food The food was a 2/10 breakfast was ok. The Italian restaurant was terrible. The food wasn’t seasoned well and the pasta tasted like over cooked ramen noodles. The Buffett dinner selections were mediocre at best. We were there for an Asian themed night, Mexican themed night and both were poor takes on the cuisine. Also, they often don’t have proper labels for food. This is dangerous as many people suffer from food allergies. We absolutely hated this hotel. RIU Montego Bay We also visited RIU Montego Bay during our stay at RIU palace. While the RIU Montego Bay has been renovated most of the staff we encountered were lack luster. The pool ran out of towels daily. Why not replenish when you see it’s about 1/2 full or 2/3 full? Rather they run out and it’s an hour or more wait for a towel during peak pool hours. Food In general the food here is better than RIU palace. The wait staff is rude and do not do anything to make your experience better. I’m not sure if it’s the employees themselves or they lack training. Perhaps a little of both. If you’re looking for decent customer service you won’t find it here.

So i came to jamaica for my birthday celebration with my mother , sister , spouse & friend . We all had a great time and will be visiting again ! Everyone was so nice and happy . Nothing but good vibes for sure .

Awesome
Everything was perfect . The food was amazing.All staff was very nice and always wanting to be helpful always wanting to satisfy each individual they were around. We will definitely be back and will bring the family. This was my second time there and I would love to go there every year. Everything was super clean even the outside near the pools and the beach was always kept very nice.

A nice visit to paradise with outstanding service
I want to start my review by saying this resort is worth the money. The rooms and facilities were decent but for the price paid it could be much better, especially if you’re doing Elite club. The food was really good and worth booking for too. The best part of the stay was the staff. They do their jobs and do it well. Furthermore, without exaggerating, every person there is lovely. Jarrett is such a friendly person, and a good man. Mahalia is incredibly kind, friendly and attentive. Nikki is warm, amiable, and good natured. Bree was cordial, kind, and cheerful. Shana Kay was approachable, welcoming, and superlative in every way. I could go on about all the staff but I want to get the review done. I think the staff was my favorite part of the stay.
