Terrific hotel!
We absolutely love staying at this hotel (our third stay!). Accommodating front desk staff, great restaurants (our favorites are the Asian Fusion and Italian) and incredible servers (thanks, Mary, for your lunchtime service in the Guacamole restaurant!). Just a really, really nice place!

Sad to say we were a little disappointed
This was our second trip to the Riu Palace Mexico, the first one being pre-Covid so we were interested to see how it had changed. We never go to the same place twice but we were so impressed with our first visit that we decided to try it again. Some things were certainly different. Firstly the staff were great again and we saw a few faces that we recognized from our previous trip. To name just a few, Abraham (excelente) was awesome at breakfast and lunch along with Addy and Mary, Louispoole was great at dinner as was Raul in the Steak House, Oscar our cleaner did a great job every day and Louis and Ariel were on the ball with drinks not forgetting the server Irene aka Roadrunner! Also want to mention Daniela at Guest Services who arranged a day trip to Valladolid for us. Manuel and the bell boys at the main entrance were always very friendly and happy to get a taxi for you. There are certainly a few repairs that could be done throughout the resort, mainly broken tiles which I honestly only noticed because I found myself looking for them after reading other reviews. Everything in our room worked fine and we enjoyed sitting on our balcony overlooking the fountains every evening with a pre dinner drink watching the world go by. The beach is lovely and we were always able to find loungers but since the only shade is from the palm trees it was a bit of a pain having to move the loungers all the time chasing the shade. Poor us! Only sat by the pool once because we prefer the beach. The water temperature in the pool was lovely though but it does get rather loud during the day, the beach is much more peaceful. There was definitely not as much food selection as our previous visit which was a bit disappointing as that was one of the things that had impressed us so much before. By the end of two weeks we weren't sorry to be leaving it behind. Went to the steak house, Italian and Krystal and they were OK. Also, we never really find the drinks to be great (and not just here but pretty much any resort we go to). I don't know what they put into those creamy drinks but they all leave an after taste of aspartame which isn't pleasant. Even the pop in the mini fridge ALL has aspartame in it with a warning that it shouldn't be consumed by children. I can see that with diet drinks but not the regular ones. And if you ask for a drink with orange juice in it you don't get actual orange juice except for mimosas at breakfast. Unfortunately the standard of entertainment in the evenings has really gone downhill. Last time we were here the shows were all excellent. Not so much this time, very, very disappointing. They even had a night of karaoke which we never want to see at any resort, thankfully it was only one night. Although the standard of the resort was nowhere near what it was on our first visit, all in all we had a good trip but will probably stick to our rule of not going to the same place twice in future!

Best all inclusive holiday!
Best all inclusive holiday I’ve ever had! Staff could not do more for you, they were so friendly and smiley, from the reception, to bar staff, cleaners and gardeners, everyone was just so nice. The selection of food at lunch and dinner was amazing also (rarely had breakfast). Always so much selection it was hard to choose what to have every night without looking greedy and then exploding with fullness. Their dessert cakes were stunning, I had them every night at the buffet. Their speciality restaurants were a great break from the buffet and was nice to be served as a change every other night! The entertainment staff were great also, always something going on in the day time and the night time entertainment was very diverse and different every night. My one criticism would be the rooms could do with a revamp and a lick of paint but generally, it was very clean and great work from the cleaners!
