Extremely friendly staff
First off, we visited on a week where the weather didn't quite cooperate, it was windy, overcast, and the sea was very choppy all week, did that stop us from an amazing vacation? No way! The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure we had fun! Michelle at pool bar was a gem! The entertainment team were top notch, the resort felt like cheers by day 2, every staff member remembers all our names and made us feel like family!

Great stay at the lively Riu Reggae 🕺
Having stayed in Riu hotels before I know what to expect. This is the 2nd time visiting Jamaica (I visited Ocho Rios earlier this year). I wont compare the 2 hotels as they are 2 completely different types of hotel, Ocho is larger and more family/ relaxed, whereas we chose Riu Reggae specifically for a more lively experience…. And lively is what we got indeed!! Rooms: We did initially have an issue as there were no twin rooms available on check in. Instead we were temporarily given a room for 2 days until one became available. Eventually it was sorted and we were moved into a pool view room, which was much nicer. The room comes equipped with an Iron & board, hairdryer, free safe and TV. The fridge is packed with sprites, coca colas, cone zeros, waters, tonics and beers and topped up regularly. There are 4 in room optics: dark Rum, Gin, vodka and I think Whiskey?! Plenty of storage for 2 people, lots of spare towels. The room was cleaned daily. The pools: There are 3 pools in the Riu. The main pool with swim up bar, sports pool and a swim up bar mini pool. The main pool is where all of the music, games and activities are based. All 3 are right on the beach, and the best central sunbathing spot is on the beach by the pool edge. The beach: Lovely beach with light sand that is maintained and cleaned daily. The sea is a bit cloudy when you first empty, but gets bluer as you venture in more. The sandbanks can drop quite steeply at tines, so do take care that you don’t lose your footing. The water-sports included in the all inc was unavailable most days as it was windy so the water was quite choppy. There is a jerk hut on the beach that does amazing jerk chicken and jerk sausages. Food and drink: Wide range of cocktails and they even made some off menu (such as banana daiquiris). Spirits are imported so not the cheap house stuff you get at some all inc resorts. They are very strong so do take care when drinking as it can creep up on you!! The main buffet had a varied selection of food and mixed it up daily. We tried the Asian restaurant and was like standard help yourself asian buffet. We also booked the steak restaurant and i’ll update the review once we tried this. Overall myself and sister agreed that tge food choice was great!! Entertainment: The entertainment team are fantastic, the sheer amount of effort and engagement they get from people from all walks of life is admirable and a skill that can’t be taught. They are always so hardworking and approachable (as well as top notch dancers)!! Entertainment finishes around 11:30 so not much goes on after that, but you can walk to Riu Montego bay where their club opens to about 02:30. Staff: Everyone is so hardworking and friendly, very efficient and proactive and rarely did i have to wait more than 5 minutes to be attended to! Keep up the excellent work team!! The cleaners are great, come in daily and change towels etc, they even leave an inspirational daily quote! I def would return again and recommend of you like the option of a lively resort and can always go to the Riu Montego bay (which is on the sane complex) for a more relaxing day and waterslides as this is also part of the all inclusive package for Riu Reggae guests (although you can only have lunch there - not breakfast or dinner). The Pasha club is also at the Reggae and stays open to early hours so you can enjoy that as part of the all inclusive package too!

RIU
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Riu Reggae. There were a few things I would change as far as the resort itself but otherwise we had a great time. I give cleanliness of the room a 3 star bc there was a piece of hair on our sheets and one of the stirs near the bar was used and put back in with the other stirs. Nasty. The hotel is fun. They had activities for us to do each day at Reggae and Montego Bay side. The hotel view wasn't bad. It was just a garden view nice tho. Also, we're near the airport. It's pretty cool to see the planes flying over the hotel. I will definitely be returning.
