    Never again

Awful experience, customer service is really bad. They do not care for you as a guest. The restaurant service is probably the worst I’ve ever had. Never again going back to such a place. Instead of making you feel welcome they make you want to leave as soon as possible.

Disappointed with Our Stay at the Royal Lahaina Hotel

Our week-long stay at the Royal Lahaina Hotel fell far short of expectations. From check-in to checkout, the level of hospitality was severely lacking. Not a single staff member went above and beyond their role, and the overall attitude of the employees felt indifferent, as if guests were more of an obligation than a priority. Service was purely transactional, with little effort to create a welcoming experience. Our stay began with a frustrating check-in process. We arrived before the 4 PM check-in time, and the staff assured us they would hold our luggage and bring it to our room once it was ready. The front desk later informed us that our room was available but required supervisor approval, and we should expect a call within 30 minutes. That call never came. After waiting an hour with no update, we followed up ourselves, only to find that our room had been ready all along—yet no one had bothered to inform us Once we settled into the room, we expected our luggage to arrive shortly. However, hours passed with no delivery. Exhausted from travel, we eventually fell asleep and woke up at 8 PM—only to realize our bags were still missing. When we called the front desk, the staff seemed surprised and unaware of the issue. It ultimately took over four hours for our luggage to be brought to the room, which set the tone for the rest of our stay. The service at the pool bar was equally disappointing. The bartenders appeared disinterested in engaging with guests, prioritizing payment collection over actual hospitality. On one occasion, my drink was served without ice—an oversight that exemplified the general lack of attention to detail. A professional bartender typically takes an order, prepares the drink, and then processes the payment, but here, the focus seemed to be on charging first, with little regard for service. The overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Additionally, the pool's towel policy was inconvenient—guests were required to present a specific "towel card," and even wearing a hotel wristband was not sufficient proof of stay. Housekeeping was another area of frustration. The hotel only offers cleaning services every other day, which, in itself, is not unusual. However, we assumed that skipping a scheduled service would allow for cleaning on the next day. That was not the case. We later learned that housekeeping must be specifically requested on non-service days. Adding to the confusion, our last full day at the hotel was designated as a cleaning day—despite the fact that we were checking out the following morning. The logic behind this scheduling was baffling. Additional disappointments included the lack of a spa and the absence of soaking tubs in the room. The dining options were also underwhelming, particularly for those with dietary restrictions. The hotel restaurant and buffet had very few vegan choices, making meal options extremely limited. Another concern was the free Wi-Fi, which operated on an unsecured network. Unless using a VPN, guests' personal information could be vulnerable. There were a few positives. The location of the hotel is its strongest asset. The beach is stunning, and the water is calm, making it ideal for wading, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Additionally, the self-service laundry machines exceeded expectations. Unlike at many hotels where dryers require multiple cycles, these functioned efficiently, completing a load in just one cycle. Unfortunately, our experience ended as it began—on a disappointing note. Upon checkout, we brought our luggage down and retrieved our car from valet service. When I asked the valet to confirm that the vehicle was ours, he simply handed over the keys with little acknowledgment. Despite clearly seeing our luggage, he made no effort to assist with loading it into the trunk, further emphasizing the staff's general indifference toward guest experience. While the hotel's beachfront location is undeniably beautiful, the lackluster service overshadowed any positives. The lack of attentiveness, hospitality, and professionalism made for a frustrating and disappointing stay. Given the many other options available on the island, we would not return.

    Excellent Kama’aina Service

Excellent service. Welcoming and helpful staff. Clean and spacious bungalow. Facilities were well equipped. Parking was nearby. Ocean was the star. We could hear the whales. Royal Lahaina Resort is a place that keeps you wanting to return. Mahalo

    Great stay and gorgeous beach

Nice resort with friendly staff and a beautiful beach. Enjoyed live music at “Branches” every night. Loved staying in an oceanfront bungalow and walking the beach walk to Whalers for shopping and multiple great restaurant options (make sure to get reservations). Valet staff were very friendly, helpful, and quick even when they looked swamped. The breakfast buffet was good with some daily change ups (though mostly the same options daily) and a great view. Mate the bartender makes some good Mai Tais and conversation. The Myths of Maui luau was fun but small. Not sure how comparable this is to others offered in the area as this is the only one I’ve attended. While we spent a lot of our time exploring the island we met a lot of people who spend most of their time relaxing at the resort and it’s a great place to stay for both of these options. We visited in February and loved watching all of the whale activity right from the beach. Would highly recommend and would stay here again if we ever find ourselves back in Maui!

    Excellent resort and resaurant!

Beautiful location and very friendly staff. Cara is the best in the resturant and Ford is great too. Food is fantastic, drinks are perfect! Great resort right on the beach just far enough away from "resort row". Love it, highly recommend for couples or family!
