Excellent service Palma and Captain Angel

Palma and Captain Angel were amazing! Lovely service and a highlight to our trip. Friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our dinner very much. We will definitely be back! The food was delicious and came quickly. So glad we booked this dinner during our stay.

    Perspective?

All in perspective? Some guests loved the resort and have returned many times. Our experience was not great. Long and short of it, the resort was VERY tired. The food was terrible. Breakfast yea was the best meal. You were able to have a fresh omelette and fresh fruit. Probably 90% of the buffet was Mexican, and not great. At least make your own salad was available. Bar service was extremely slow, even when you went to get your own drink. It was advertised that pool service began at 7:30 but in reality it was 10:00. Not that we are big drinkers, but a baileys with coffee would have been nice. One choice of red or white wine or beer. A young bar tender at the main bar pour a bit of a customers drink on his hand to taste, licked his hand and continued to serve, not washing his hands. DISGUSTING! The halls are bare. No plants or decor. Because of this, even someone tip toeing could be heard. There was a family 8 doors down from us and we could hear the baby crying every night. If your room faced the courtyard, any entertainment was extremely loud. Thankfully, I had brought ear plugs which helped somewhat. The room was tired, fairly clean. The bed simply had two top sheets for cover. We requested three blankets which the maid provided. There are apparently 3 “speciality”restaurants. Good luck getting a reservation! We dined at the Marco Polo. I had the green bean flan and seafood pasta. Both were tasteless and not appealing at all. My husband had the chicken, which at least was hot and ok to eat.!very disappointing. If you are a smoker, this is not for you. Only one smoking area, outside and around the corner of the front of the hotel with the mouse traps, or out on the beach. Signs are everywhere about the $1000 fines if you smoke any where else. Everyone is trying to push you to buy a time share. There is a town, a 25 minute walk away which is fun to see and a “Mexican Walmart” a 20 minute walk the other way. The adult pool was way warmer than the main pool. Careful with your towels. If you put them out before 8am and walk away, the security guards take them away. A $30 charge US per towel if you lose it. As my husband says, we have been there twice: first and last time. We would not recommend this resort and would never go back. Hope this helps.

Hector was the star of our trip!!

I visited with my family, and we went to Marco Polo on three separate occasions in our 6 day trip. Hector was our waiter every night, and he was incredible. Over the course of our trip he remembered us, remembered our regular orders, and was very sensitive to our parent's dietary restrictions (vegan/vegetarian) every meal. Miguel was the manager that worked with us, and he remembered our family from a trip last year. All of the food was amazing, and the rotating menu made for a unique dining experience every time we returned. On our last evening, we sat on the patio and were surprised with fireworks toward the end of our meal. On our final night, Hector had our dessert delivered with a "have a safe trip home" message and brought us a surprise extra dish, which was delicious. We will remember it fondly!!!
