    Beautiful location, great family break

    We had the most wonderful stay. The most beautiful location, the beach is incredible and the water crystal clear. The jet skis are great fun, I recommend a trip to Pig Beach and also hire a boat from Barefoot Antigua - to see more of the Island. After reading all the reviews online we were really concerned about our trip. The hotel has so much potential but the issues are with the management - not the staff. Check in was slow - but only one person on the front desk doing as best she can. Beer did run out but staff couldn't change the barrel as they were too busy/short staffed at the bar but they did it as soon as they could. Buffet staff very hit and miss. Steak restaurant was amazing and staff fantastic. Scoops coffee shop staff were great - the lady seemed to work extremely long shifts but was always happy. What made it for us was some of the staff by the pool - J Quan was amazing so friendly and always checking we had drinks, worked extra every day and truly loved his job and it showed - a real asset to your hotel. Richard and Fergus/Shamous on the Vibe team were brilliant - always so happy and enthusiastic. Malachi also a lovely guy and Tee Tee was lovely too. They all got our whole family involved (my 'children' are 21, 19 and 16!) To take the hotel from good to great the hotel management need to..... * Employ more staff so check in is faster and they have time to change a barrel * Have more sun loungers * Stop people reserving the sunbeds at the crack of dawn * Remove towels that have been on bed unused for the morning * Disappointed my daughter who is 16 and had to pay adult price yet had to sleep on a put up bed * Be clear with people how to use the app eg the restaurant bookings don't open until 10am, and that you can go to the desk if you struggle to get reservations and they will do it for you. * Entertainment in the evenings wasn't great - couple of good nights but not much All in all we had a great holiday but just felt like the management could do more to make staff and guests happier.

    Royalton vacation

    Hotel has great service and food. Jameel gave me great support when I hurt my knee on the resort. The resort has lots of activities and all of the staff are friendly. The bar tenders are generous is with the alcohol portions. The pools are very clean and you can also play volleyball.

    My family loved it here. Friendly staff. Beautiful beach and clear water. Nice selection of food. Lots of activities. I would recommend to friends! Special mentions to Jameel, Moi Moi, and Richard. The views are stunning. Soft sand. The rooms were great too. Nice beds. Clean.

    Beautiful Island, But Royalton Antigua Is NOT Luxury — A 3-Star Experience at Best

    My family and I just returned from a 7-day vacation at Royalton Antigua, and I honestly feel compelled to share our experience so others know what to expect. This is NOT a 5-star resort, and Marriott should be embarrassed to have their name attached to this property. I don’t take writing negative reviews lightly — I truly appreciate how hard the hospitality industry works — but this resort is a disorganized, run-down mess that needs serious attention. First, the positives (because a few people there deserve recognition): ⭐ The Hype Team & Fitness Instructors — They were outstanding, working hard to keep guests engaged and entertained all day. Shannon, Lady Jay, and another wonderful gentleman (I wish I had gotten his name!) made our stay a little more fun despite all the resort's issues. ⭐ Sydon at the Pool — Absolutely amazing. He hustled and made sure pool days were enjoyable for everyone. ⭐ Coffee Shop Staff — These ladies were always kind, patient, and smiling, even when my kids asked for ice cream for the tenth time that day. The coffee drinks were great and it was one of the few places where service felt genuinely warm. Now, the reality — and unfortunately, it’s a long list of disappointments: 1. Check-In: Unorganized and Slow Only 1-2 people working the small lobby to check in new guests. We waited 30+ minutes to check in, even though we had a group reservation. Despite asking for rooms near each other, they split us up. My MIL was "upgraded" for one night and then moved to our floor. 2. Rooms: Definitely Not Luxury Rooms advertised as luxury suites were basic, worn down, and dirty: • 1 king bed and a gross pull-out chair bed for 2 adults and 2 kids. • No extra towels or pillows, even after asking several times. • Walls and furniture were marked up, and everything felt used and neglected. • MIL's "Diamond Club" downgrade was even worse — holes in the wall, shower falling apart. 3. Food & Dining: A Complete Mess • Reservation system doesn’t always work. The app only works for parties of 4, and you still have to stand in line to book with a hostess if you need a larger reservation or to book one. • You can only book 2 days ahead, which makes dining stressful and chaotic. • Food was subpar. Italian restaurant apps (like mozzarella) were hard and cold, and main dishes took 45+ minutes to arrive — also cold. • Buffet is an absolute nightmare — good luck getting a seat outside, and if you're a larger party, staff are clueless on how to accommodate you. • After 9 AM, empty trays and annoyed staff. They run out of everything! 4. Kids' Rec Space: Worn Down and Misrepresented The kids’ area is ok and in need of maintenance. While they try to accommodate kids, this resort is marketed as adults-only in some places (many guests I spoke to were under that impression too). 5. Pool Area: Dangerous and Falling Apart • Pool tiles are coming off, and my daughter cut her hand and toe (two separate times!). • First aid is a joke — no radios, no supplies, and lifeguards are useless for emergencies. When we asked for an ice pack, none were available, and a random waiter found us a bag of ice (bless him). • Cushions on chairs are stained, cabana rentals are $100+ per day, and the only way to get consistent poolside service. But cabana structures are falling apart too. • Pool bar is filthy, serves bottom-shelf liquor, and bartenders are clearly over it — annoyed all day long, unfriendly unless you’re young, half-dressed, and updating your social media. • We tipped generously throughout the trip hoping to make service better, but staff remained cold and unmotivated. 6. Check-Out: Total Chaos • No one knows what they’re doing — billing is a mess, charges are confusing, and if you have to dispute anything, good luck. Staff kept saying "let me call someone" but no one could give straight answers. • The lack of organization at checkout added stress to the end of an already disappointing trip. Final Thoughts: Guests Deserve Better I don’t know what other guests paid, but anyone writing a glowing review either got a major discount or is writing on behalf of the resort. ✅ Staff needs serious retraining and raises — I get that they’re overworked, but guests shouldn’t be treated like an inconvenience. ✅ Marriott needs to step in, address these issues, or stop calling this a "luxury" resort — because it’s not. ✅ Guests who work hard to afford a vacation shouldn’t have to deal with bad attitudes, dirty facilities, and dangerous conditions. Until major changes are made, I CANNOT recommend this resort to anyone — especially families.

    Not recommended.

    For almost $700 a night it’s unfortunate this resort does not do it as a luxury hotel. There isn’t anyone even welcoming you when you walk in, the check in people no matter what you ask for an upgrade, extended checkout, room change nothing is accommodating! We booked a king received 2 beds, the room size is ok but whatever you do, do not book a garden view it’s literally a bunch of trees you’re staring at. The food was absolutely terrible! Buffet has limited options and the people seemed pissed to get anything! The steakhouse i paid $50 extra for a premium cut couldn’t even eat it, was covered in salt. All the food is garbage! The pools and view is really nice. They sell hookah which is great but they will hound you for a sale. The kiddy pool is separated. One good thing is 24 hr room service. But the food is horrible. Staff here is a hit or miss some are nice some are just rude or don’t even look your way or acknowledge you. The Entertainment is boring. The elevators take forever. Place was a 2 for me
