    Frequent All Inclusive Traveler

We recently returned from a 7-night stay at the Royalton Bavaro, and we are so grateful for the memories we made with family and friends. This was our second visit to the resort, and it was great to see a few upgrades since our last stay. The putt-putt course has seen some nice improvements, and the pools have undergone some maintenance as well. Upon arrival, we were taken by golf cart to the Diamond Club (DC) lounge, where check-in was smooth and easy. Although our rooms weren’t ready yet — we did arrive before noon — we grabbed lunch at Grazie (pizza), and not long after that, our rooms were ready. Jiada, who tends to guests in the DC lounge, was a familiar and friendly face we were happy to see again; she does an excellent job. The food throughout the week was decent. We didn’t arrive with high expectations, which probably helped, and we always made a point to talk to the servers about what dishes guests typically enjoy. Our favorite meals were at Rio and Zen. The grilled pineapple at Zen was absolutely delicious! My favorite steak of the trip was actually from Oceanside, the seafood restaurant. Drink service in the restaurants could definitely use some improvement, especially at Zen, but we learned to show up to dinner with a fresh cocktail in hand, and that worked out fine. The lazy river was a big highlight for us — we had a large group and met there a few times for what became our "daily float." Our teenagers absolutely loved the FlowRider. They especially loved the crew working there, who made everything more fun, particularly during our private 45-minute session. The pizza window was a great, easy lunch option, and we also loved the "pop-up" lunch offerings. The DC bar/restaurant had much better wait times for food this year compared to our last trip — everything came out very timely. Jesus was fantastic there. Stephanie at the Oceanside DC morning buffet was another standout. She's so sweet, greeting us each morning with a huge smile and tons of enthusiasm. Jesus also made our dinner at Grazie one night even more enjoyable with his great service. Our hibachi dinners at Zen were consistently good — we went twice! We also appreciated that every restaurant was very accommodating of my mother-in-law's celiac disease, ensuring safe options for her. One of our daily favorites was the omelet station at the DC buffet. The entertainment overall was better this year. I didn’t catch every show, but the ones I did see were enjoyable. One suggestion: more adults would probably join the dance parties if they didn’t have to go on stage. Dancing at ground level would be way more inviting! The beach and ocean were beautiful. We even did some snorkeling right at the resort and saw some fun marine life. We always found a lounger or a bed without any trouble. The pools were clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming throughout the resort. Beach massage: I was hesitant b/c there are people around the cabana, but it ended up being amazing and I could hear the ocean. Gym: Nice, clean, well stocked Spa: Very nice and relaxing environment- my daughter had a skin care treatment due to sunburn- suggestion: play soft music so it's not awkwardly quiet Coffee Shop: much shorter wait this year- quick service Special Shout-Outs: Wily, our butler, was fantastic. He was kind, checked in appropriately, and did a great job managing our group of 24. We are very grateful for Wily! The good and the BAD. There was both.

Good - All-inclusive food is a nice money saver. The amount of money we would be spending eating out every day would have made the trip cost higher. The Restautant's provided better quality food, I think than the main cafe. Concierge/butler was a helpful tool. We had Ranfi. He was helpful and very attentive, answering my text even at night when he must have been off. He was helpful in providing information, making recommendations and making dinner reservations. Shows at night were great. We had dinner at 6PM and grabbed seats after dinner to watch scheduled shows and listen to music in the main theatre. We preferred the earlier dinner time so we could grab a seating location of our choice instead of taking what seating was left. Finding a seat at the beach was not a problem. Finding a seat at the pool was not an issue however an umbrella would take an early retrieval time when you get up first thing. They have some kid activates/included and consider the kids during their shows at some point. Buggie excursion was a fun experience. Bad- Concierge/butler offered a coupon after asking if we were planning on doing an excursion. I thought at first that it was a very kind gesture only to find out after he helped me book it that the coupon was actually a voucher from PRIME TRAVELERS CLUB. Since we signed up for the excursion and paid for the discounted price, i felt bad and obligated to sit through the presentation. The Concierge said, don't your remember? I told you about this in exchanged for the coupon. For the life of me i could not remember but i thought to myself, shoot, maybe i didn't hear that part. After doing some research about the company and reading about past complaints, i came to the realization that the concierge really didn't mention that part to me but tricked me. That sucked but i completed the hour presentation and got the discount. PRIME TRAVELERS CLUB - they say 1 hour presentation but you're not getting off that easy unless your rude and cut them off. After just over an hour and me telling them i can't keep my wife listening to this for another minute, keep your voucher if you don't want to give it to me, they agreed to give it to me. At the one hour or so mark, i told them im not interested and he got his manager who started the process all over again. I cut him off, thanked him, said they did a great presentation but i was not interested. THEY DONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. They keep going. They start off nice and pitch hard to the wife and kids. When they realize you're not interested, they turn rude and try to guilt you or demean your ability to afford a cheaper option. It was a horrible experience. I truly only did it because i felt obligated to sit through it after the concierge failed to tell me the discount I already received was a cost of an hour of my life. Buggie excursion - They made a stop a Macoa Beach. Dont buy food at Macoa Beach! The prices are incredibly HIGH. 2 orders of Rice, beans, chicken and a couple pina colada's cost $175.00 (after tip over $200.00). I could have eaten steak at home for that. I had let my guard down thinking i was off the resort and could enjoy some Spanish food at a reasonable price. Could not believe the prices after i ordered and ate. I can only blame myself for not reading the menu prices and lowering my guard. OVERALL We had a good time. Being better informed before you go will make for a better total experience next time.

    Mixed Bag

This resort is a mixed bag. Pro’s: plenty of activities for the kids. Lazy river is great, especially love the bar. Beach is decent. Unfortunately, the seaweed hit early and it was difficult to find a good area to swim. Evening entertainment was well done. Con’s: FOOD!!! Honestly, the worst I’ve had in PC. Rarely had warm food. Buffets were very limited. The quality was not there and we are pretty reasonable people when it comes to all-inclusive food. We were in the Diamond club and hoped for a slight improvement in food but again just not there. Nothing like cold fried hash browns and rubbery pancakes. Coffee machine in club level only work for 2 selections. Also encountered some really off putting service in Oceanside and Diamond Club. A couple people can ruin the vibe. There were some lovely people as well. SHOUT OUT TO OUR BUTLER, RAMON! He really was a saving grace for this place.
