Frustrating Moments
I am still here actually. This hotel is so frustrating. What a waste of time waiting for a shuttle. It can take 20 minutes + to get a ride. There is only 1 available. They won't pick you up along the way. You must be at a "station". There are only 3. My husband lives with chronic pain and this is ridiculous. Booking restaurants is just as frustrating!!! We are a family of 5 + 2. We can get the system to accept. Not much availability too. So much time wasted trying to get in. Buffet is ok, not the best I've seen. The guacamole is spicy, the worse ever. The margaritas are terrible. Mijotos not so bad. My daughter booked a acenda and they are overbooked. She paid 12K to be told she can have it the day later. WTH!!! We will NOT BE BACK here. Too bad 👎 😪

Jose and Miriam awesome!
Awesome! Jose and Miriam over at sandos playacar vip lounge are a must visit duo of spectacular bartenders! They smile non stop and serve you to your hearts delight! It was a pleasure to drink there with their drink recommendations; get the Charro Negro!

Better than Reviews Say
Our family of five went to Sandos Playacar with our good friends, also a family of five over Spring Break and we all had a great time. We were nervous and a little skeptical ahead of going after reading recent negative reviews of people getting sick, however we had a great experience. There were multiple pools with waterslides that was great for the kids and the frozen drinks at the swim up bars were a huge hit. The beach was beautiful and we were always able to get chairs in areas we wanted. The shows and games each night provided good entertainment options and the weather was perfect. The food was ok - not great, but once we figured out what to get where it was alright. Breakfast at the steakhouse had a made-to-order omelette bar and the steak tacos were good. There were always chicken nuggets and fries available for the kids. Guacamole was disappointing. We did go into Playa del Carmen twice for dinner which was fun and not too long of an Uber from the resort. We also booked an excursion through the concierge - snorkeling with the turtles and the cavern tour. This was the highlight for everyone - very cool experience. Overall, I'd recommend Sandos to anyone looking to go with their family. It is a huge property and there are shuttle services available, but I enjoyed walking through the property and it was certainly manageable for all of us, including our 4 year old. Other random note, make sure you pack enough sunscreen -it's incredibly expensive to buy any at the resort stores.

Visit Spa Del Mar at Sandos Playacar
Do not skip Spa Del Mar when you stay as Sandos!!! The staff are friendly, peaceful relaxing setting with sauna, hot tub and pool (thank you Ale and Jared for your hospitality!). And most importantly, LIDIA!!! Wow wow wow that was one of the best therapeutic massage and facial combos I have ever received. Cannot recommend Spa Del Mar and Lidia enough! Thank you - Lidia, Ale, Jared & Team!

Beautiful beach! Lovely family vacation with a great location
Cons: The family room was spacious enough, not exactly up to date and a bit run down, but was clean. Room service menu wasn’t large, but was serviceable. The restaurant selection was fine; dinners were not excellent, but were also fine. Very large resort, pretty long walk from the lobby to beach, but shuttles were pretty easy and ran fairly frequently. Pros: THE BEACH! Beautiful, placid water, super clear, wide beautiful white sand beach, soft sand in the water. Just gorgeous. Many water sports available. The location in Playacar was awesome, very close to the city center and shopping strip. Fairly easy to get restaurant reservations. Several nice pools, plus a good sized waterpark with a smaller one close to the lobby. Breakfast was excellent every day. Overall a very nice experience for a traveling family.
