Unforgettable experience
I am very happy with the services. The day and evening housekeeper kept our room very clean. The restaurants have very good menus. Shout out to the chef of Seaside Grill for the steak. I am not sure but he said his name is Luis from Columbia. For the Coco Cafe… life of the place Estrella, for the best latte. The entertainment at the lobby at7 pm are amazing. The animation team kept everyone dancing every night. Shows at 9 pm not to be missed. Lastly from the concierge office.. a heartfelt thank you Ashley.

Secrets Tides - A MUST visit.
I was blown away with this resort. The service, food, drinks, layout, pools. It felt like true luxury. We did a king swim out. Room 1131. The room seemed to be a perfect location - it was in the middle of the resort. GO!!!!

Amazing experience!
Amazing experience! Even though we weren’t very lucky with the weather, the variety of activities, the great company of other guests, and the incredible entertainment team made our stay a perfect 10 out of 10. A special thanks to Mayra from the entertainment team — you are amazing!

Very average complex
Full Review Stay Duration: 6 nights / 5 days Trip Type: Couple Overall Rating: 7.5 / 10 ⸻ 1. Arrival and Check-In Arrival at Secrets Tides Punta Cana was pleasant. The Preferred Club check-in, held in an air-conditioned private lounge, offered comfort and a positive first impression, featuring its own bar and calm atmosphere. Guests are welcomed with a cold eucalyptus-scented towel, a refined and refreshing touch. The staff were courteous, professional, and attentive, reflecting the expected Secrets hospitality standard. ⸻ 2. Room and Comfort The room is spacious, modern, and very comfortable, with elegant decor, an excellent bed, and good soundproofing. The bathroom includes a double shower, strong water pressure, and proper sealing, ensuring relaxing baths. However, water temperature fluctuates at times, which can slightly affect comfort. The private WC, enclosed by a glass door, looks sleek but lacks an exhaust fan, bidet spray, and toilet brush, and has no acoustic seal, compromising privacy. Additionally, rooms sold as “Ocean View” provide only partial sea views from lower floors, as the pool and beach structures obstruct the view — something the hotel should clarify when booking. ⸻ 3. Room Service, Housekeeping, and Minibar Room service was fast and efficient, with polite and timely delivery. However, housekeeping was inconsistent: despite multiple requests, water bottles were not replenished automatically, forcing the guest to call room service daily to request them. Such oversights are unacceptable for a five-star resort, especially within the Preferred Club category, where proactive service should be standard. ⸻ 4. Dining Food quality was good and consistent throughout the stay, both at the buffet and à la carte restaurants. The main buffet restaurant deserves praise for its excellent service, cleanliness, and food presentation — offering a wide and fresh selection with attentive staff. Among the à la carte venues, the Japanese restaurant “Meraki” (not the hibachi) was the standout: it delivered the best food overall, both in flavor and presentation, with clear attention to ingredient quality and plating. Reservations were only required for the hibachi show-cooking restaurant, which is convenient. However, restaurant service in general lacked training and initiative. While staff were friendly and polite, they often delayed offering drinks or checking on tables, revealing a need for better staff preparation and supervision. ⸻ 5. Drinks and Preferred Club Bars The Preferred Club pool bar is visually appealing but limited in variety and cocktail execution. Bartenders were unfamiliar with more sophisticated drinks, such as the Lychee Martini or Fitzgerald, and showed little initiative to accommodate these requests. The contrast between this bar and the Preferred Lounge bar, where drinks are prepared with more care and technique, is striking. Poolside drinks were often served warm, and the draft beer had a poor taste, while canned options like Heineken were noticeably better. On the positive side, premium liquors, including high-end gins and vodkas, were available in the Preferred areas. However, wines and sparkling wines were simple and unimpressive, not matching the resort’s claimed standard. During meals, Preferred guests received the same beverage options as all other guests, which is unacceptable given the premium paid. It also appears the resort intentionally limits access to better wines to encourage guests to buy bottles separately, which are priced three times or more above U.S. retail values — already high by global standards. This practice undermines the transparency and sense of exclusivity expected from the Preferred Club experience. That said, most employees were extremely polite and smiling, though training and proactivity were clearly lacking, especially in the restaurants and bars. ⸻ 6. Beach and Outdoor Facilities The beach is clean, well-maintained, and well-serviced, with comfortable loungers and constant waiter presence offering drinks and assistance. The sea, typical of Uvero Alto, is slightly darker and more agitated, with clearer waters farther offshore. Nevertheless, it provides a pleasant and peaceful setting for relaxation. ⸻ 7. Towel Incident When requesting four towels (two for loungers and two for drying off), the guest was politely questioned by staff, who justified the restriction due to limited staffing. While the exchange was courteous, such a policy is unacceptable for a five-star property, especially within the Preferred Club tier. ⸻ 8. Gym and Fitness Area The gym is modern, air-conditioned, and well-maintained, equipped with new machines but a reduced number of treadmills, bikes, and strength equipment. There is also a dedicated room for yoga and stretching classes, which is a plus. However, the space is small relative to the resort’s capacity, and would likely become crowded during high season. ⸻ 9. Night Entertainment Evening entertainment was weak, despite the effort and friendliness of the performers. Shows were simple and repetitive, lacking the sophistication and variety expected of an adults-only luxury resort. ⸻ 10. Tipping Culture Even within the Preferred Club, the tipping culture is very present. Service tends to improve noticeably when tips are offered or anticipated, reflecting the predominantly American clientele. While staff remain courteous regardless, the difference in attention is obvious, making it advisable to budget for gratuities, particularly for beach, bar, and housekeeping services. ⸻ 11. Value for Money The value for money is average. Even during off-season, rates exceed US$500 per night for two guests, which feels high for the actual level of service and exclusivity provided. Despite the modern infrastructure and friendly team, the lack of real differentiation for Preferred guests, uneven service quality, and limited beverage program reduce the overall sense of luxury. ⸻ 12. Overall Impression Secrets Tides Punta Cana (Preferred Club) offers beautiful facilities, comfortable rooms, and genuinely kind staff, but lacks training and proactivity, particularly among restaurant and bar personnel. Although most employees are smiling and polite, their technical preparation and initiative fall short, creating service inconsistencies incompatible with the property’s pricing and branding. The resort remains a pleasant and relaxing destination, but does not reach the excellence promised by the Secrets brand, nor does it justify the premium charged for the Preferred Club. Final Rating: 7.5 / 10 (Excellent facilities and friendly staff, but insufficient training, inconsistency, and limited differentiation prevent it from achieving true luxury standards.)
