The spa is exceptional!
My experience at the Sonesta Spa was sublime. My masseuse, Flores was exceptional. I had an 80 minute deep tissue massage and it was one of the best I've ever had. She was skilled, professional, friendly and left me feeling completely refreshed. The staff made evey detail feel important, hot towlels and fresh juice before treatment to tea directly after. I cannot recommend this spa enough, request Flores she is a true gift.

3rd but last visit
This was my 3rd stay at Sonesta Maho but will unfortunately be my last. After this week’s stay I have no desire to come back. Let me start off by saying that since I’ve been here before I knew what to expect, a smaller resort, with decent food a fun beach, decent rooms and good drinks. I was not expecting luxurious. My negativity comes from a personal experience and how it was dealt with. I got food poisoning my first day and was sick the entire week after that. (Likely Salmonella). I reported it and management acted like I was making it up because “no one else reported getting sick”. However, talking to several others, they all had issues (but not as bad as myself). One of the bathrooms was covered in poop as someone clearly had an accident and it wasn’t properly cleaned up. Secondly, someone puked beside us at the buffet and the way it was cleaned was not sufficient in my opinion. Pros: 1. The beach is fun, the planes are great to watch, however, be aware that the water is not tranquil. It is usually pretty wavy/rough. 2. Fun nightlife right outside the hotel lobby with bars and restaurants and shops. Cons: 1. There’s a sewer type smell around the one side of the pool and at the back of the resort. We couldn’t even sit and enjoy our balcony with an ocean view because the smell was so bad. 2. Only one pool to use if you’re not part of an upgrade. 3. Rooms are looking kind of rough with very little attention to detail. My fitted sheet was inside out and not corrected even after asking. Room also was dirty. Table was not wiped, dirty doilies that the coffee cups were upside down on. Disgusting phone. Burnt out lights. Bar fridge was only restocked once. And requests were not fulfilled. Some guests had liqour in room and we did not. Bed very uncomfortable. 4. Only 3 a La carte restaurants but not all of them are open every night even in peak season. (The Mexican is advertised to be open daily but was closed 2 nights) 5. Lack of evening entertainment. Only some live music or DJs or karaoke. No shows other than a juggler on Saturdays. 6. Food. Lack of variety, buffet food was never hot. Some servers at the buffet were not friendly and drink service here was very very slow. Also I got food poisoning likely from the poolside hotdog and burger grill.

The Plane, the plane!
I recently stayed in the all inclusive resort, in the family section because there was a good special for the room when I booked. Other than the fact that the adults only section is in a building that looks a bit fresher and newer, the two facilities are within very close proximity and share most of the facilities. The adults only section has its own pool and a bit more quiet. But the pool area in the family fiendly section is more lively with music and one that I would prefer even if I was staying in the adults only section. The food in the restaurants was very good, my favorite was the buffet which always had a good assortment of fresh fish, local cuisine and a short wait to be seated. Dont forget to check out the kids food section which sometimes had surprises like delicious oxtail that wasn’t being served in the adults serving table. The accommodations in the family complex were average. I was given a room on the first floor right in front of the pool area with a view of the back of the swim up bar and lounge chairs. It was a terrible obstructed view and at first I was not happy about this since I had asked for a higher room when I booked. But it turned out that it was very convenient to go in and out of the room and get to where I wanted to go quickly. In the morning I was able to put a towel down for my pool chair to relax and drink coffee before anyone got there. It was very peaceful and I don’t think it would have been as convenient in a higher up floor. And yes, people do put their towels down as early as 7am to reserve their chairs which is a bit annoying. So turned out that there were plenty of benefits to having a ground floor room after all. There are many beautiful beaches in both the French and Dutch side that one must explore. Do go out to Grand Case Beach and rent a bed at Rainbow Cafe and other nearby beaches by the resort. But the pool area was also a lot of fun and I enjoyed spending time there as well. The location of the resort is very convenient to venture out and explore other areas. It’s right next to the airport which is not only quick and easy but also an attraction of itself. Don’t forget to walk to the beach right next door to see the airplanes take off and land. The best time to go is in the afternoon right around 2Pm when the large planes start landing and taking off. It’s truly exhilarating! Unfortunately the service at the resort was not consistent. Many workers did not look happy and some weren’t very friendly to guests which is unusual for Caribbean resorts. It looked a bit understaffed when I went which could account for the unhappy faces. That said, this did not take away from my overall experience in St Martin or this resort. Being in an All inclusive was very convenient and it is one of the few on the island. It is not what I call a luxe resort if that is what you are looking for but it definitely has a Caribbean slower vibe that is easily embraced and welcomed. Would I come again to this resort? Absolutely. The island is charming and the resort’s location is perfectly situated in between some of the most beautiful beaches on the island which is just a short cab ride away in any direction. I can’t wait to come again.

Inedible food, not worth it.
Attended a 4 day conference February 2025. We arrived a few days ahead of the conference looking forward to a vacation. The food is inedible at all the restaurants. The pizza crust cardboard like, the nacho chips stale, the main buffet flavorless, luke warm - even things that are supposed to be cold. Bagels cardboard like. The tuna Nicoise was canned tuna dumped on warm lettuce with a undefinable dressing. Even the humus and pita was bad. Only thing to eat was fruit and the fresh grilled burgers. We ate off site most of the time For the price it was incredibly disappointing. At different times the women's bathrooms in public areas at least one or two of the toilets would not flush. Look elsewhere to stay !

Wonderful trip. Very clean, friendly, lots of activities.
We just spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week here. The food was amazing and the staff were very kind and helpful. The place does an amazing job keeping everything clean and we loved how you had to sanitize your hands every time you entered the restaurants and how the buffet had the workers give you your plate and they would serve you your food with gloves on. The only complaint we had was the Lobby bathrooms were not very clean and 3 toilets in the women’s bathroom were down all week. The other thing was the “adults only” pool was not exactly adults only. Other than those two issues the place was beautiful and we loved the adults only roof top bar, Cloud 9!
