Tired but Cozy!
We had a wonderful stay at this resort. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Our maid service was excellent! The beach was clean and the snorkelling spectacular! 1/2 of the beach chairs require replacement. And shaded areas were hogged and littered with towels holding the area but no persons utilizing the space. Buffett was good. Adequate selection. Staff work very hard and notably work well together, to help with quick turnover of tables. Our favourite restaurant was the Italian one. We ate there three nights! Thank you Novelette! For your smile and genuine personality. You should be teaching at a school for hospitality. The blue water grill we visited once and it too was delicious. Carol you were sweet! Coffee bar we visited every early morning. Thank-you for the delicious cappuccino. Bar service is slower than we are used to. Our drinks were straight up! Never felt the alcohol was watered down. We witnessed seals being removed from bottles. We always had beer and soft drinks available in our minibar. The entertainment staff always had activities to participate in, if you like. We toured the island by land and catamaran and felt safe at all times. Mambo beach is just around the corner of our resort and was fun to explore with plenty of shops and restaurants. Really this resort is quaint and cozy. We visited at peak season and felt because of this there were more guests than ability for this resort to accommodate in the service area.

Watered down EVERYTHING… HARD PASS
Find anywhere else to stay. Fundamentally the resort, while a bit tired, is in decent shape. Place is clean and our bed was comfortable (which has tempered our tolerance as we can get a good nights sleep at least ). But it stops there. We are 4 days into a 10 day stay. Beach is nice enough. There are fish out by the rocks. Anyone who’s done a lot of snorkeling though will be bored. Looks like they dumped a bunch of rocks on coral to build a break so a bit sad really. Food offered really is terrible. Last night there were 10 dishes on the buffet including starches and sides. Meats were gummy fish and ice cold chicken (it was served chilled out of the fridge… for dinner). All soups are watered down. Played restaurants do not rotate menus and have 3 or 4 choices (I.e. seafood rest has salmon or mahi or chicken skewer … everyday). Try to get into a restaurant, it’s very difficult except for the buffet. Drinks- main bar has lined up 15+ people most times I’ve gone to it. And the guys serving are slow and wouldn’t make me a blended drink bc they had a different blended drink in their blender??? What??? Margarita? Nopeno tequila. Beer? Nope out. Main swim up bar staffed? Nope, gotta go stand in line 15+ deep on the deck. Alcohol have any alcohol? Nope, 1/2 oz of alcohol …. Ordered a vodka and soda and a glass of water… no alcohol in the alcohol. They water down the alcohol beyond recognition. Just like the amenities in the room. Never had watered down lotion before? Just go to Sunscape. Shampoo… same thing. I understand why some of the staff are disgruntled, they too much be frustrated. Some of the staff were great but whoever is running the place, you should be ashamed. Honestly my impression is they are in financial trouble. We’ve travelled extensively, inclusive and non inclusive properties.Give this place a hard pass. HARD pass. And we have more than half our vacation to go. Not sure if we will make it.

Great time!
There are a lot of negative reviews of this resort, so this is my honest take on it. We were here in February 2025, for the second time, our first trip having been in 2018. While it is not a 5 star resort, we enjoyed our experience very much. The rooms are dated yes, but they are clean and cleaned every day and the beds are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly, I don't understand the people that say otherwise. I can only say you get what you give in that regard. I'm not going to dispute that people have gotten food poisoning, however I have also gotten food poisoning at 5-star resorts. It happens everywhere. But the food is good and plentiful. We ate at each of the a la cartes, except Japanese, which we couldn't get into. They were all good, our favourite being the Bluewater Grill. Yes it is difficult to get a chair on the beach, again that goes for most resorts we have been to. The beach and the snorkeling are amazing! It's also very convenient for a walk down to Mambo Beach. Bus stops are right outside for a ttrip into town. We will definitely be back!

Would not recommend.
I would not recommend this resort as the staff were not friendly or welcoming as you would expect. The pool closes super early for no reason, our check-in process was ridiculous as we waited almost an hour for someone to help us when the lady was not busy just sitting at her desk. We were not informed on none of the accommodations the resort offered, we were told to look at everything on the app if we needed help. No bellhop to help us with our bags to our room, we had no idea of where we going as no one remotely told us, we were just walking around the resort with our luggage trying to find our room. The transportation provided was not reliable as the representatives did not have our information although this was arranged prior to our arrival and paid for.

Don't expect Sunscape to be a real Hyatt experience!
This place shouldn't be a Hyatt resort--it is way below that and won't meet your expectations. The pictures online are either in a new tower or carefully taken to make the old shabby rooms look good. The food is mediocre. The beaches are OK, although it is hard to get shady areas unless you wake up at 6 am and put towels on the chaises--which officially isn't allowed but not enforced.
