Westin experience at Cozumel
Great hotel with superb staff. You will be greeted by Fernando, a top performer in ensuring you have a great experience. Jorge Miguel working the food staff is always smiling and directing staff for your dining experience. At lunch by the pool look for top staff, Juan, Alex and Vicky. We enjoy the staff, location and a full concierge desk hosted by Bannon at Amstar. Find Bannon for great an awesome dive trip and jeep tour.

Westin Cozumel, a beautiful resort to stay at, great snorkeling, clear water, excellent food and over the top hospitality l.
This was our second time staying at the Westin. We so appreciate the heart-warmimg staff, excellent food and some of the best snorkeling right in front of the resort. The room was cleaned with great detail. The maids add their personal touch with origami folded towels, etc. Special recognition to George, Ms Vicki, Randy and Banner. There are countless other staff to recognize. Loved all of the smiles and jokes. They went out of their way to make the stay memorable. We will be back and recommend this resort to friends and family wanting to vacation in Cozumel.

If you’re looking for luxury- this ain’t it.
had to write an honest review because I don't feel that any other reviews were a fair representation to this hotel. This was the biggest disappointment at a hotel I've ever experienced in Mexico, PERIOD. I've been to Playa, Cancun and Cabos and this place takes 1st place of gross. We had two different rooms because my husband wanted to make this trip super special for me as I wanted to be in a cabana, as close to the water as possible. Our first room was on the 15th floor and the room was ok, but we did have two cockroaches in the room. The cleaning service didn't assist in picking them up, but instead left them. We then moved to the cabana which was shown so perfectly online, and when we got there, it was so out of date and in poor condition. The room clearly had water damage as you could see the water marks on the wall and the furniture. Secondly, the neighboring hotel parks their jetskis right in front and the gentleman that clearly runs them, comes out EARLY in the am to rev the engines which left exhaust in our room. We were roughly 15 ft from them and it was EVERY morning. The grounds around the cabana were not kept nicely and to top it off, the housekeeping did not clean up our dirty dishes or old drinks. They stayed there for a week! Also, the rooms weren’t cleaned up properly and they put a dirty towel back in the rack (picture). The food was subpar and the drinks were bottom tier. There were several more items that I could complain about, but this is just the biggest ones. The dive shop wasn't terrible, but it's worth noting to bring your own stuff as we had two faulty BCD's that could have gone bad at 90 feet. Also, I made a complaint to Westin corporate about these items and my complaint was dismissed within the first few days. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go elsewhere. This place is not worth the money.

STAY AWAY. HOTEL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT GUEST SAFETY
If safety is a priority, stay away from the Westin Cozumel. My daughter was rushed to an Emergency Room (and we had to administer her Epi-Pen) due to the negligence of the Westin Cozumel. During our second night, we stopped by the lobby bar for desserts with our children. Our daughter has a very serious tree nut allergy and we were very clear with the employees as to her food restrictions. This was communicated in both English and Spanish (in written form as well to make sure there were no miscommunications. In fact, we had a friend, who is fluent in Spanish, write out a paragraph regarding our daughter's allergy to make sure there were no translation issues). The employee claimed that he checked with the kitchen with respect to which desserts were safe. Within minutes of having the dessert, my daughter had an allergic reaction. A helpful employee, working the front desk, intervened when she saw that we were in distress. Within minutes, she checked the recipe and confirmed that tree nuts were present. She was visibly upset with the bar employee for not taking the food allergy seriously. After spending the night in the hospital with our daughter, we spoke with the management about what occurred. They advised that they would investigate what transpired. The following day, they claimed they did an "investigation" and because the bar employee denied that we discussed the food allergy, the hotel took zero responsibility. We encouraged them to speak with the front desk employee who witnessed the event. They refused. We also told them to review any security video which would clearly show how the event transpired. They refused. I then asked that they reimburse us for our out-of-pocket costs related to the ER visit and the cab rides. They refused. I have subsequently e-mailed hotel management multiple times asking that our out-of-pocket expenses be reimbursed. The Westin Cozumel is now simply ignoring my e-mails with the hope that I go away. If anything happens to you or your family, be prepared for zero help or acknowledgement from the Westin Cozumel.

An Amazing First Visit to Cozumel!
Our first trip to Cozumel was unforgettable, and the island exceeded all our expectations. The relaxed and vibrant atmosphere is something you truly have to experience—“chill” is the best way to describe it. We stayed at The Westin (Dec. 9–16) and chose the all-inclusive package via Air Canada, which was worth it! Everything is seamless—just sign a $0.00 bill at meals, the bar, or for coffee, and you're all set. Special thanks to Elena and Gilberto (front desk) for ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect! The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Fernando at the front door was always there to greet us, answer questions, share local tips, and engage in great conversation. He's a definite asset to this property! We indulged in the massage package, and it was an absolute highlight. Ruth and Sara provided an incredible experience, starting with the sauna, steam room, cold-plunge pool, and whirlpool, followed by a relaxing 50-minute massage. Highly recommend! Don’t miss the Sky Lounge for a sunset drink or swim. If your room doesn’t offer a great view, this spot more than makes up for it. If you're on the beach, Vicki (snack/beach bar) will take care of you 💯%! Try the burger 🍔. The breakfast buffet was beyond our expectations, and after filling up, we’d head to the lobby bar where Osvaldo worked his magic. He makes a fantastic cappuccino (less milk, more coffee!) and has a knack for crafting custom drinks. Ask him for his Cognac special 🍹(pineapple juice, triple sec, agave syrup, and lime)—you won’t regret it! While the property wasn’t fully booked, they alternated restaurant openings each night. Gaviotas restaurant offered stunning waterfront views for breakfast and dinner. Un enorme agradecimiento to Team Gaviotas, led by Captain Jorge and his team: Belem, Maggi, Vanessa, Jorge, Randy, Paloma, and Xocitl (apologies if I missed anyone). Special thanks to Ananias for organizing a fantastic 🦞lobster dinner—delicious! Venturing into town (a quick USD $10 or 150-peso cab ride) was a great addition to our trip. We explored bakeries, local restaurants and taco spots, cigar shop, and grocery stores—all of which made for a memorable experience. Pros: 👍 Incredible views and snorkelling 🤿 right off the beach 👍 Spacious, impeccably clean rooms 👍 Fully stocked mini-fridge 👍 Plenty of beach chairs—no 4 a.m. towel reservations needed! 🏖️ Cons: 👎 Air conditioning is centrally controlled (regardless of the thermostat in the rooms), making rooms freezing cold. Keep your patio door slightly open (there's a sensor) and press seemed to help reduce the frigid cold 👎 Thin walls (we had to change rooms once) and also call the front desk about a young couple blasting loud beach music late at night) 👎 A mix of guests with differing preferences (young kids and loud guests didn’t always mesh with the serene vibe) Recommendation to management (and Marriott International): Consider tailoring the hotel experience to a specific clientele. Catering to adults-only or those seeking a quieter retreat might help create a more cohesive atmosphere. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would happily return. The Westin is a fantastic choice, book it!
