Obstructed ocean view room
Decent resort on service and aesthetics. Service is just okay and the resort does need a refresh as there is considerable wear and tear. Staff is overall friendly. We booked an oceanfront room and paid the higher rate. The view has an obstructed view of the ocean with a huge tree and shed (room 204 as well as 104 below). This was disappointing. The Westin should be ashamed to offer this room at the higher rate.

Grand Cayman vacation at the Westin
Fantastic location! Right on 7 mile beach and very close to many great restaurants. Only a few miles/km from George town port and shops. The hotel has everything, that you never have to leave. With a great restaurant and pool / beach bar available. Great beach service and redsail sports is on property which makes it a bonus for water activities. On the expensive side but well worth it.

Service is key
Great service makes any stay very memorable. The beach, pool, and different activities are great and beautiful but they are nothing without great service. Shirlando is must see. He is personable and gets people excited no matter what’s going on. He’s the man. The servers and bartenders are top notch too. Strike up a conversation and you’ll get to know the amazing people at the Westin.

A wonderful baby moon experience!
They have gone above and beyond to make our stay amazing. The views, the beach, the spa (Simone is the best)…all of it has been a complete treasured memory. Wow. Every detail, from the food to the drinks, to the room service has been impeccable.

Disappointing at best
I hadn't been to the Westin in Grand Cayman in many years. Back then, it was an open air lobby with the trade winds blowing gently through the foyer - it was delightful. Today, it is glass enclosed , which allows the stench of cigar smoke to permeate the lobby and hallways. Overall, I was disappointed in the level of service we received; from a negtive, not-so-friendly concierge, a poor dining experience at the sushi restaurant and less than ideal beach conditions - the towels could be used to sand wood - our best experience on Grand Cayman was when we left the resort. Regarding the beach experience, take a look at the attached photo of a chairside beach table - it is smeared with what looks like blood or food; why aren't these tables wiped clean every day? - This is disgusting. We noticed deferred maintenance as well - from peeling paint on the balcony railings (see the photo below) to the sliding shower door handles being loose - this is basic, easy stuff to fix. It just seemed like no one went out of their way to make our experience at least somewhat extraordinary. As my mother used to day, "you get what you pay for". Only this time we didn't. It felt like LaQuinta on the beach. If we ever return to GC, it won't be here, guaranteed. Get your act together, Marriott.
