Excellent Staff at the Puerto Vallarta Westin
Excellent staff at the Puerto Vallarta Westin. True professionalism with Hugo, Andy & Ruben at the Main Desk. Fun times with Angel Campeon & Reyna Isabel at poolside & afternoon cocktails. Lily at El Palmar cooking station & Israel as dedicated server.

Good hotel. Could be better.
So the Westin is not a bad hotel. It’s moving to an all inclusive so maybe it’ll get better too. But it’s a mixed bag here. You might like the pool; we did. The chairs were comfortable and plenty. And the service around the oool was decent. The food at the pool is ok. We liked the chicken fingers and tacos. Skip the nachos. The drinks are also not great. The room was good. A good rain shower and nice views. Would be nice to have two queens instead of two doubles but the beds and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast for titanium is nice but the omelet station was hidden and no staff let us know about it until we discovered it on the last day. Better service would’ve cured that. The rest of the property feels a bit tired and could use a refresh. The gym is fine but the Italian restaurant and cafe could use some better food. The beach also lacks amenities and is small. Would be nicer to have the huts next door. The location in marina is close to airport but a 30 min drive to center and ZR. Overall, we enjoyed it but wished for more.

Full Service Hotel and Staff!
We loved the Westin! Rooms were spacious. Despite being under some light construction as it is being renovated to be an all-inclusive resort, the hotel was quiet and enjoyable. Wonderful pools, nice quiet beach, fitness center, and good restaurants to choose from. Excellent location across from the marina with the shops and bars. Perfect vacation. There was a staff member Carlos at the front of the hotel that answered all of our questions and gave us great recommendations on what restaurants to choose. He was always super friendly, had a small and his face, and went out of his way to help us with our bags. Thanks, Carlos, for making our stay extra special! You're a real full-service man!

Yes, Terrific Location but Not What It Should Be
We're here now, and the ocean view from 805 is lovely--blue waters, palm trees--and we were lucky to be upgraded by Gretel when we checked in. The room is fine-good linens and lighting. And yet...there were dirty wineglasses when we arrived, placed outside the room on the inside balcony/walkway, which remained there until after 11 pm. You get your own water from a airport-type water bottle supply at the end of a long hallway (there is no bottled water in the room). There are very, very few places to eat, and despite very much wanting to like, we were disappointed (seriously) by our dinner at Arrecifes. Tony, our server, was attempting to be attentive but was clearly not supported well by the rest of the staff. It took a long time to get our drinks (others around us were baffled by the wait as well) and the appetizers as well as the main courses were poorly cooked, flavorless, and ill-designed. The bread, however, was terrific. When asking for places we could have brunch, we were told to go back to Arrecifes. We won't. We'll eat the nuts from the plane rather than return. The place is under construction so perhaps the transitions are limiting their ability to offer the service they would like, but...we're here now, and wish we were having a better experience.

Terrible Experience
Hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. I don’t normally write reviews, but this experience left me so frustrated that it wasn’t optional. We were staying here for 1 night for my daughter’s birthday- after staying elsewhere for a week or so. We arrived around 11am, we let them know we know we’re early but inquired to see if we could do early check in. They were so friendly and excited for my daughter’s 6th birthday- told us to come back at 1pm and it would be ready. They politely held our luggage while we had breakfast and walked the grounds. We checked back in around 1:30pm and we were told the rooms all require a supervisor to inspect the rooms after cleaning so it’d be another 15-30 minutes. They told us to hang out in the bar area and they’d come get us when it’s done being inspected…. (no problem!)….45 minutes went by and not a word from them. Mind you- they were checking in several other guests. My husband assured me it’d be soon so we just ventured across the street for snacks confident that when we returned we could check in. We returned to the front desk at 2:30pm and we were told that housekeeping was still in there cleaning. Totally confused as to how this was possible if the room previously only needed an inspection. The woman behind the desk rudely looked at her watch and reminded me check in is at 3pm. As I’m sure you guessed- I went back to the desk at 3pm and our room is not ready. At this point we’ve wasted an entire day in their lobby. If they would have simply said early check in wasn’t possible when we inquired, we would have left for the day! They informed us our room had been given away. When I started to push back with them they started talking in Spanish about how I was crazy- not knowing I could understand them They offered to comp our lunch, but the restaurant they sent us to was closed. They agreed to a 4pm next day checkout when I pushed on a refund due to not honoring the 3pm check in. They apologized and assured us they would text when our room was ready- of course that didn’t happen. We had to go back to the desk and check. We didn’t get a room until 7pm. They gave us a room right by their loud construction area, our shower water didn’t work and the fan was taped together. At this point I was just over it, but trying to make the best of it for my kiddo! We get to the next day and housekeeping knocks on the door to say we were supposed to be checked out by 1pm. By this time it’s 1:45pm. I call the front desk and they assure us they never agreed to a 4pm checkout. They wanted to charge us an extra $20 and hour. Finally they agreed to let us checkout at 2:30pm- after asking for the supervisor. When we went downstairs and the supervisor asked how our stay was, I explained our frustrations. He simply had a smug smirk on his face and ‘apologized’ that that was our experience. I’ve reached out to the CEO, but I’m sure nothing will come of it. His email if anyone finds it helpful. Anthony.capuano@marriott.com I know I sound like such a Karen, but I’m such an understanding person that this level of just no accountability was too much. Even more so because it impacted my child’s special day. All so preventable. Outside of the bad service, the location is decent. The staff members working the luggage and pool areas were friendly! Construction is so loud and dust everywhere. Makes enjoying the pool hard. I think for what you pay here- you can do it elsewhere and have a way better experience.
