Home away from home
We have been coming to this resort for several years and it is one of my favorites. The food is very good and there is a variety. The workers are friendly and make you feel at home. Our butlers Luis, Abraham and Alma were top notch and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. We plan to come back again.

Butlers Ivan & Cali were fantastic!
Cali & Ivan were amazing butlers. Went above and beyond the entire trip! This resort is truly my favorite resort! The food and services is fantastic. Highly recommend staying here. If you can, stay forever but if that is not possible, stay for at least 113 days.

Beautiful place, wonderful people
We had a wonderful time at El Cid in Puerto Morelos in early December 2024! The place is stunning, and always extremely well maintained. The staff is wonderful, and may be the biggest factor in us returning. From the moment we arrive, everyone is very friendly and helpful, and this carries over to getting coffee in the morning at Aromas, anywhere you are for a meal or a drink - at the amazing Dolores food market, by a pool or on the beach, in a restaurant or in a lobby bar -- the people working at El Cid make it an excellent experience. We don't learn everyone's name, but we try, so this is not a comprehensive list, but staff stand-outs are: Tony, Eduardo and Diego at Aromas / the outdoor seating, and also Alejandra! Ross at the Italian for breakfast and Dolores at lunch! At the spa: Paolo running the show and Lucy and Diego at Hydrotherapy are all excellent, as are all the masseuses (we worked with 4 given the size of our group). You must go to Kobo and meet Felipe, the manager, and experience chefs Rigo (head chef, amazing!) and Belen! The whole team at A'akat, such a creative restaurant, is wonderful. Willie, the sommelier, is so great to work with on every level - find him, talk to him. Patty at the beach front family / lap pool at Ventus is always great to see and talk with, and she makes great drinks. We could list more because truly everyone we interacted with on this trip was great, in every lobby, the teams we interact with as members, those caring for the grounds, cleaning the rooms and outdoor spaces, etc.

Great Resort but we had problems
We travelled to Puerto Morelos, MX with my wife’s sister and her husband (2 couples) Nov. 25 - Dec. 9, 2024. We all stayed in Building 26 and found the accommodation quite good. The resort is quite spacious and did not feel crowded at any time. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed all of the a-la-carte restaurants and the Mercado de Dolores (food court). Everything was fantastic. The start of week 2 at the Resort was when my problem started. Not due to any fault of the Resort, I became very ill. I was bed-ridden for most of the time and missed the whole second half of our vacation. Upon return home, I was diagnosed with double pneumonia. It was really bad! On the last day of our stay at the Resort, all 4 of us got food poisoning. We were all vomiting and had diarrhea that whole night. We cannot pin-point the cause but this was the Resort’s fault. As you can imagine, the trip home to Canada the next day was horrific. We all continued to suffer from diarrhea for several days. And, for myself, I had the double pneumonia as well. I am still recovering but getting there. What started out as the perfect vacation, sure ended badly!
