Best hotel in Puerto Plata.
My experience at the hotel was unbelievable! We will definitely be coming back! Wilmi was beyond helpful and assisted us with the yoga. Very pleasant! The food was great. The entertainment was amazing! The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. The beach was clean and the pool was also cleaned. Maintenance is on top of everything! I can’t stress enough how helpful respectful and nice the maids were. I highly recommend this place.

Overall great.
Our second visit and as before the staff was great, rooms clean and a very good variety of food. The return visitor dinners were great. There was rain most everyday at some point which was ok with us. However, really missed the tables in the entertainment area where we would have gathered and played games etc. . There were 9 of us so going to rooms was not an option. A few inappropriate people in the pool we could have lived without and rooms are dated but really fine... but otherwise a great vacation.

VIP and our friend Ricardo.
Just returned home, my wife and I and another couple from our week Vacation at grand Vantana Beach resort had a great time. We were met by very nice welcome staff took us to the VIP lounge where we were there met by Ricardo. He greeted us with a smile, a handshake and learned our names right off the get-go. Overall, our experience was very good being able to go to the VIP lounge was a bonus. The whole resort was very beautiful beach was great and the cabanas were awesome. Overall, if anyone is thinking a go there I highly recommend getting the VIP package. The experience is just so worth it and Ricardo will meet you with a smile and a high five every morning. He makes an amazing coffee and great drinks! Cheers, Ricardo . Phillip and Allison

A great 10 day stay !
This was our 3rd trip so obviously we are fans. The beach is beautiful and sunrises are spectacular. I enjoyed looking for crabs in the mornings and feeding the fish out front of the life guard tower. The food is simple and basic but the a la cartes are a step above the buffet for quality and attention to detail. Rooms again are simple and basic but the cleaning staff do a fantastic job keeping them tidy. Tips : leave notes in spanish for your housekeeper and fridge person. Two seperate jobs at this resort. A monetary tip and some candy is what we would leave with the note and we had our requests met. Andrea is the best bartender and we loved her boozy iced coffees and blended drinks.

Small resort with basic good food and drinks, friendly staff, good value for money, TERRIBLE smokers
This was our third visit to VH Gran Ventana, and initially, we were pleased to see the familiar, well-maintained premises. The staff remains incredibly friendly and welcoming, a real highlight of the resort. The beach is lovely, and the smaller size of the resort is a definite plus for those seeking a more intimate experience. We’ve always found the basic drinks and food to be perfectly acceptable, and honestly, a good value for the price. However, a serious issue has arisen that will unfortunately prevent us from returning. The sheer volume of smokers, and the complete lack of enforcement of any designated smoking areas, was appalling. We were constantly subjected to secondhand smoke, whether on the beach, by the pool, or even on our balcony. It completely ruined what should have been a relaxing vacation. To be constantly smoked out in a resort that is supposed to be relaxing and family friendly is completely unacceptable. It's a shame, because we truly enjoyed our previous stays. But the overwhelming presence of smokers, and the resort's apparent indifference to the issue, has made this our last visit. If you are sensitive to smoke, or simply prefer a smoke-free environment, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. It's a real pity, as the staff and general atmosphere were otherwise excellent, but the smoke made it unbearable.
