Family Vacation Villa Del Palmar
We just returned from a wonderful trip to Villa Del Palmar Cancun. The rooms and grounds are clean and beautiful. Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed in a one bedroom suite as the two-bedrooms were sold out. Although, large in size with plenty of room and nicely decorated, the tile and high ceilings don’t make for the best acoustics when there is an early riser in the group. That said, it was so much nicer to have a large space, full kitchen, dining room etc.(they even had washer/dryer!) rather than a standard hotel type room, when traveling as a family. We did have an issue with the water one day, but, it seemed to be resolved quickly. We got the all-inclusive package but, this is not a typical all-inclusive resort. Although, some of the food/drinks were of better quality than some of the all-inclusive resorts we have stayed at. I did find it a bit of a nuisance to continually have to wait for a check to sign after every meal, snack, or even drink ordered at a bar. The prices for meals/drinks are comparable to the US and even not being much of drinkers, I found it cost effective as a family to go with the all inclusive package. We never tried the buffet for dinner, but, did eat there nearly every morning for breakfast. This was mostly due to our favorite server Cesar! Even when room service was tempting for breakfast, my kids insisted we go see Cesar. We were sat in his section by chance the first day and requested him each day thereafter and would recommend you do the same. Not only is he a great, attentive server in general, but, he took the time to joke with us and help my kids with their Spanish and even give them a word or two for “homework” that he would remember and ask them about the next day. The kids loved it and I loved watching them get excited and learn. Cesar really was someone we will all remember. Someone else we will remember is Edgar from activities. Talk about charismatic! He was wonderful with the kids and really so upbeat, his energy is contagious. We are not typically “joiners”, but, he made everything sound fun. I could not believe he always remembered our names and on an otherwise depressing day (checkout day) as we awaited our transportation in the lobby he entertained us all with the most insane card and magic tricks that had us talking the way to the airport. We tried each of the restaurants and Davino was our favorite for dinner (shoutout to Hugo who is a wonderful server and made my daughter’s birthday special!). The lounge around the bar is modern and beautifully decorated and I would recommend arriving early for a cocktail before your scheduled dinner reservation. Speaking of….. I recommend making all of your dinner reservations right after booking the hotel! They book up far in advance and if you should wait until even a few days before your trip, it is likely you will not get the most desirable times. If not, 24hour room service is great, the food is delicious and they do a wonderful job setting it up at the table and presenting it. Zama for lunch is delicious and we actually preferred it over their dinner menu. I always like to try new things, but, I ordered the softshell crab twice. The towel game was in full effect during our stay. The beginning of our stay, we were able to find some free chairs by the pool closer to the lobby at any time, even finding a random chair or two by the main pool was possible. By the end of our stay, almost every chair was reserved with a towel by 7 AM. If you are traveling during a peak time, I would recommend waking up early and/or even bringing towels up with you the day prior, as fresh towels aren’t put out until 7 AM, but, chairs are definitely taken before that time. The main pool is clearly more popular, but, we actually preferred the pool closer to the lobby. The water was a bit colder, but the lounge chairs were FAR more comfortable with pads on them and my younger one could touch the bottom so I was more confident lounging outside of the pool. Nightlife isn’t really a thing here, but, we had long days in the sun with the kids, so that was ok for us. They have some nightly entertainment, but, you must walk over to the neighboring sister resort. Although close, that was enough to deter us most nights. It would have been nice to have a small setup for nightly entertainment at this resort, even just to watch from the balcony if the kids are tired. In all, we had a nice stay and did not want to leave. The staff at this resort really are so hardworking and always kind and smiling, they really are the resorts best assets.

Great resort
Great resort. The pool butlers Kevin and Angel really did a great job and took care of all our needs. They are always around and the personal touch was exceptional. Clean towels and even blew up rafts. It rained a view times and they were quick to get umbrellas and anything else we needed

Overall a great experience
Angel who works the pool area is absolutely the sweetest guy. We never had to worry about a chair he had us covered with towels and whatever we needed. We had so much fun with arobics everyday. Botlgns and his Rocky music were great. He made it fun. Alejandro has so much energy and always a smile, he obviously knows his stuff. We loved it. Jargo is so nice. We loved them all. All the activity people are wonderful. Edwardo in The Sports bar restaurant went above and beyond to make both meals we had there special. Amazing service there. Also the manager there was great! She was working so hard to accommodate everyone on a busy night. Always a smile. The supervisor of the elite pool was definately not my favorite. We are elite members and have been for about 6 or so years and in a 3 week stay we got to have chairs at the elite poole 2 times. And one of those times he was mad at Kevin for giving us a cabana because he didn't approve it (even though he wasn't there). Kevin is so sweet. After that he checked on us every day no matter where we were to make sure we were comfortable. Eric was our server for some of our stay and was the best pool service we had. Always right there when we needed him and remembered everything we liked. Our concierge Ale was ok, communication on dinner reservations could have been better. But the worst part was being there 3 weeks and her telling us she made arrangements for us to stay in the same room the whole time (we had a lock off room that turned into a 2 bedroom) and we ended up having to move the last week. And we only found that out because I went to get a new key bracelet because mine came off and they told us at the desk. All the refrigerator stuff and groceries we bought. She invited us to an owners happy hour but didn't even tell us where, so our concierge from last year (who was amazing) took us over. I will say I'm very disappointed that they have over sold the elite and we really have no benefit now except the check in and a massage. We can't even get in the elite pool ( which was loaded with the kids jumping and diving in) and it's a small pool anyway. It really should be adult only since there are 2 and really 3 kid pools. Also the chef at Davinos was amazing. Their food is great. We bought lobster on the beach one day and he prepared it for us. We just had to buy 2 bottle if wine. He added shrimp for $2.00 a piece. The salad was amazing. And the pasta he added perfect. A great experience. No coffee and pastry in the lobby in the morning is disappointing. They do have it at Garza. I'm just beginning to feel like "the red headed step child". Absolutely no fault if the employees who are amazing, just the Villa Group being all about the money.
