  Rip off

  Rip off We were walking down the road toward the entrance to catch our car A hotel driver offered us a ride so we figured why not jump in for a minute? he drove us less than 100 meters to the second gate before we saw our car. For his hospitality offering us a ride - even a short one I gave him a $5 US dollar tip He informed me that the ride cost was actually $10 dollar and demanded more. Not sure if this is hotel policy but seemed like a huge rip off

  Five Star Resort

  Fantastic property superb 👌 service highly recommend top notch service amazing Restaurants excellent food. FYI if you book your own transfers communicate with the front desk upon check in. They want you to use their taxi service which is super expensive other than that we had great time.

  Love Mexico

  Huge fans of Mexico, and our first time to ​W at Punta. ​Tried a jungle room - ​cool room, but a 5 minute walk to the beach​, each direction, and had to dodge mosquito sprayers along the way. I would have welcomed an overpriced mini-bar, but there was none. So, to enjoy a single beer or soda in our room you want me to make a call to Room Service and then wait...for a single anything? Hmmm.​ (No, beer was not available for purchase anywhere on site besides their restaurants.) I did ask about alternative room options - $700/night extra for a shorter walk and partial ocean view, and the hotel was only at 60% occupancy, for a Bonvoy member of years? Hmmm. The beach experience was ​full of joy - clean, clear and colorful water, just great, with miles of happy beach all around. The Mexican food was delicious and the staff were all great. However, I was stung​ in the ocean by, my guess, a stingray​. Serious pain, lots of ​gushing blood. I hobbled back for help​. Someone showed up with a basic med kit. (A doctor service was offered.) I did ask for something for the intense pain. The W suggested I walk over to their store and look for options. So, sitting in a pool of my own blood with blood still coming out of my ankle, in serious pain with zero mobility, the W solution was for me to get up and walk over to their little store and go shopping? The only official protocol was a W staff asked me to sign a waiver indemnifying the hotel of any responsibility. Post fact, not one W employee/manager inquired about my well-being​, not ever. I don't need/look for sympathy and the sting/wound was no big deal, but shouldn't a manager or someone from the W at least pretend to care about the well-being of their guest? One simple follow-up could have made all the difference. And, yes, I went back into the ocean - no issues and just wonderful. A hotel with potential but execution could be so much better.

  Great Value Luxury Beach Resort!

  This was our first stay in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and we were very excited as we have only experienced Mexico through the lens of Los Cabos. It was a long time searching where to bring my mom to celebrate her birthday with my dad and my wife coming along as well. After searching through the Caribbean, the US, and Mexico for a great beach vacation we ended up choosing the W Punta Mita based on the reviews and stunning photos, and also the value proposition. Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful area of Mexico with Jungle, Mountains and Beach to offer as a backdrop, and what seemed to me to be a true mexican culture throughout the town and area all added up to being in my mind a step above Cabo which can feel for better or worse Americanized. For anyone with any safety concerns to this area of Mexico, I too had them, but they quickly disappeared. I felt as safe if not safe traveling throughout the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta, to Punta Mita, to Sayulita. Pre Arrival at the Hotel was expertly handled by Josue at the Concierge desk. He assisted me with everything from transportation, dining, spa etc arrangements, recommendations and explanations. He is truly someone who cares about the guest and it shows every step of the way. Upon Arrival to the hotel the entrance is stunning with redish color rocks and lush green landscape to greet us. The lobby is artistically stunning from the colors, to materials, to the Living Room Bar feature, but of course the stand out here is the mosaic tile floor feature that runs from lobby all the way to the ocean, it truly is one of a kind. Fernanda at the front desk is very helpful and a pleasure to meet. Walking throughout the property the pool set up is unique as it also has plenty of seating both in the sun or shade, and being only steps from the ocean. The adult only pool offers great ocean views with plenty of sun as well. Something unique to me at this property that I have not had a chance to experience yet was walking to our room which was the Jungle Escape room. From the pool it is a longer walk but it was a pleasure to walk every day, multiple times a day. You walk from the beauty of the sun drenched pool deck through layers of the jungle on the way to your room, covered with the biggest palm trees I've ever seen, it was a memorable experience and I was in awe every time. The rooms are pleasantly cool naturally due to the shade, with pops of color and Mexican touches to make it fun. The bathrooms are stunning with a wall of windows to create a one of a kind view. The beds are very comfortable as are the pillows. Plenty of closet space, and massive soaking tub if you book a King Bed Room. Restaurants on-site are very good as we tried them all. Spice Market offers solid upper scale Asian food with a twist, with Verazu being the Mexican themed restaurant. Rubra is the newest restaurant run by one of the best chef's in the world and certainly did not disappoint. From the custom chairs, custom glassware to the expertly and delicious prepared food I can't recommend this place enough! Away Spa has to be one the finest spa establishments I've been to, and that's from someone who has enjoyed Forbes Five Star spas before (not boasting, just giving perspective). It is tucked away in the jungle and it has your typical amenities of a Sauna and Steam room which are separated by gender. However what I look for are areas I can enjoy with my wife, and Away Spa did not fall short here. It has multiple hot tubs, cold plunge and hydrotherapy pools that you can spend with your partner. What really stood out here though was the level of service from the attendants. While many high-end spas have their own hydrotherapy circuits, this was the first time I had a staff member ask if I'd like their assistance to go through the circuit. I thought about it for a second and thought to myself, well why not! Such the right decision. I'm always wondering if I'm spending enough time in the sauna or in the steam room etc and in the correct order to really allow my body to benefit from this million dollar restorative treatment area. Well let me say having someone walk you through, time you was the best thing ever! Providing ice cold towels, to housemade honey and blueberry popsicles and small snack tray with chlorophyll water each at the perfect moment throughout the treatment made this spa my top one! Shoutout to the wonderful bartenders at the Living Room Bar and Agave tasting, and Mixology class. Marcos and Alfonzo or Alejandro were fantastic and very educational regarding Tequila and Mezcal.

  Ill-Prepared Hotel

  We were guests of at the W Punta Mita a few weeks ago. While the property was great, the experience was awful. I left my wife and children to do some work in the room and when I returned, my children were crying next to wife by the pool. They had been on the beach when a man drowned. Not only was there no staff present on the beach during this incident, my kids had to the pool where no staff responded to their pleas for help so they ran into the hotel where they received the same response. I arrived 15 minutes after this transpired and still not one staff member from the hotel arrived. Guest of the hotels were doing their best to resuscitate this poor man while his family looked on. It was not until 30 mins later did a staff member arrive with not one piece of of life saving gear. 40 Mins later, a staff member arrived with oxygen. Not even a defibrillator. Not once did the hotel staff ask if there was a doctor at the pool, which is adjacent to the pool. My wife had to ask! It turns out, there were two cardiologists at the pool, one of whom ran to the beach to help, which by the time he arrived, the man had passed away. The ambulance arrived one hour after the incident. I would assume all the guests at the beach who witnessed this incident were traumatized. I am still in shock that a Marriott Hotel could be so ill-prepared. It was pathetic and it cost someone their life. Just terrible.
