Never again
Never again. Employees with bullhorns striking at 7 am. They want business and yet disrupt vacationers sleep. This is totally uncalled for and I considered calling the Honolulu Police department for disrupting the peace of thousands of vacationers.

Dangerous, major power outage with no backup generators, otherwise decent
I wanted to write a better review, but on Saturday November 2 there was a complete power outage in my 33 floor tower. The emergency generators failed too, so there was no working elevator or lighting in the stairwells. The building didn't even have battery powered emergency lighting in the stairwells. People were trapped upstairs, and those of us downstairs couldn't get things like essential medications from our rooms. One person fell and hurt herself trying to get down in the dark. The staff finally got lanterns and started escorting people up and down. Fortunately people upstairs were in safe conditions. We were told the cause was a fire in the electrical panel though, so what if it had spread? The outage lasted almost six hours. Some people were given rooms in the other tower but I didn't get to the front of the massive line. When I finally got upstairs late in the evening, worried about getting trapped up there with more power problems, there was no AC or hot water. They hadn't gotten the systems working again. I spent a fitful night trying to sleep covered with salt and sunscreen, periodically being blasted with wind from the open lanai door that provided the only ventilation. The AC wasn't even on when I got up the following morning to end my stay and check out. The thing that has me writing this review is all they refunded me was $100 in resort fees - my colleague only got $50. We both still had to pay $380 with tax for little more than a bed. When I asked to speak to a manager about a more reasonable refund, I was ignored for 20 minutes until I left to catch my flight. The managers were apparently hiding rather than talking honestly and openly to guests. The rest of the stay was maybe 3 stars. The room had a nice view of Diamond Head and a great lanai, but it was furnished and laid out poorly, with no desk at all so I couldn't work easily. The couch and a small round table were crammed into a corner on the same wall as the TV. The only way to watch the TV was from bed, or an uncomfortable little wicker chair. The couch was a fold-out but there was no space to open it. The restaurants are overpriced and the food is inconsistent. The expensive sushi restaurant had good sake but unremarkable sushi, and the third floor grill served up great fish tacos one night, but dry, overcooked fish and undercooked asparagus the next. The Italian restaurant is excellent, but even more wildly overpriced than the other restaurants. The luau was great and that's the one thing I'd recommend at the hotel. The food was excellent, with salads, fish, prime rib, and pulled pork. The poi was even good, which is a first for me. The MC and dancers were also great.

Amazing Hotel!
Hotel and staff were amazing and very helpful! My family and I were there from Oct. 28th-Nov 2nd. Although the entire week was wonderful our last day we lost power on only our side of the tower.. we extended our stay to check out Saturday evening so we could shower and get ready for our flights that night but we’re unable to, due to the power outage.. we were on level 12 and had to carry all our luggage down the sets of stairs (was very tiring)! There were 8 of us including an infant, so we had quite a few things to carry down. With the gracious help from the bellmen Jon Cardenas, Riston and Chi we were able to get through all those sets of stairs!! Because of the circumstances, they were kind enough to order us taxi’s to take us to the airport. We are super thankful for them and the rest of the staff. Such an amazing hotel and experience (other than the last day 😉)! They also have many activities to do such as Leaf painting, Ukelele lessons, lei making ect, all within the hotel! If you are visiting the Islands of Waikiki, Hawaii for the first time (like we were) I would definitely recommend this hotel!! 🌺✨🌈

Perfect Anniversary Stay with Outstanding Service and Amenities
Our anniversary stay at the Waikiki Marriott Resort & Spa was absolutely fantastic. We initially checked in to a beautiful room, but halfway through our stay, the team managed to secure the suite we had originally requested. This upgrade made our celebration even more special, and we truly appreciated the effort they put into making it happen. Throughout our time there, the staff was incredibly attentive, always quick to respond to our needs via the app. They made sure everything was perfect, adding to the feeling that we were genuinely valued guests. The resort’s amenities added so much to our experience—my wife loved starting mornings with yoga, enjoying a delicious free breakfast, and relaxing in the pool and hot tub. The hotel bar was also a hit for evening drinks, giving us and our friends a lively spot to unwind together. The location in Waikiki was ideal, making it easy to explore and enjoy the local attractions. Our friends who joined us had a wonderful time too, and everyone was impressed with the outstanding service and attention to detail. Marriott truly made our anniversary memorable, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable, guest-focused experience!

Pleasantly surprised
We stayed two nights in early October. We found the room to be very comfortable and provided us with a good view of the ocean. The pool area appeared small and busy although we didn’t intend on using the pools. One night there was a lot of noise from the spa area, it didn’t really bother us though. We had lunch at the bar overlooking the beach and we enjoyed it. Good view as well. The beach across the road is a good way to relax and we did a few times while sitting at Kai coffee. If you are Australian take note, as nothing else comes close.
