Mixed Feelings
I have mixed feelings/reviews about our recent stay. My room was not ready until maybe 6pm while I was out at dinner. My bags were dropped off at my room but my room key which I was given earlier did not work so I had to go back down to the lobby to get them to set it up. The building/room configuration was confusing. Some bldgs are attached. The first number of your room is the bldg, the second number is the floor, and the last two are the room number. No one explained that to me. I got lost a couple of times the first day or two and had to ask ee's I ran into in the hallway how to get there. In addition to the room locations, it took a while to get to the lobby and was confusing which way to go to get the beach, various pools, or the lobby. Almost understood it by the time I left (was there for five days). The room itself was nice, king bed with water views. Clean, birds chirping in the am to wake us up. Used the water slides which was a highlight for me at the hotel. Food at the onsite location was good. Nearby shopping center had places to shop/eat also. Not sure I'd stay here again considering the cost. Staff was very friendly/helpful. Tips are included in resort fee so you don't have to keep digging in to your wallet for tip money. Found this helpful. Of course tipped separately when I checked out.

Not worth the money!!
This was our 30th wedding anniversary, and we had never been to Hawaii before, and it was my dream to go. This was the 1st place to stay when we got there. (We had 3 choices of places to stay. This was the most expensive, it was facing away from any view but was very private, the picture we were shown, we picked it) Check-in was easy, then went downhill from there. We opened our door to the room we booked roughly 7 months prior to this trip. WHAT IN THE HELL!!....the mold smell, the dampness, and the 20 year old couch, damaged furniture, and needed to be painted. (Felt worse then the local roach motel) I was like, I think this is the wrong room." We go back down stairs to see about it, and we're told that the room we booked doesn't exist anymore, (but I could clearly see it below the room they had us in) the desk clerk said the one we booked is not available. But we could stay in that one -$100 LESS. PAHAHAHAHA!!! At that moment, I wanted to fly the 20 hours back HOME. They agreed to move us to the beach view room that night for the same price, but I was so tired from the 20 HOUR flight there I was like, we will do in the morning. But after taking a shower and still feeling like I needed to take another shower, (after walking on the floor, my feet were black) I was nope we moving tonight! We called back down to the desk to move, and they said sorry, but the room isn't available now they had to clean it. REALLY. I said fine well do tomorrow afternoon when we get back from our day out" We arrive to check in again. I started to ask about why the room wasn't available. The manager told me they are renovating 1 wing at a time and this one going on now. (I was like, why did no one tell us when we called the week before to confirm the booking.) And no price adjustment? As I started asking more questions, she then told me sorry, but you booked through a 3rd party and not Marriott. If so, I could do more to help. WTH! So then she gives me the new room key and says sarcastically enjoy your sunset! (Because this one was on the beach) not too much privacy. And had ants in it. The photos below were what we were shown and why we picked it. BUT THAT ROOM DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE! But it's still on the website 🤷♂️ Stay away!

Keep coming back
Amazing place to celebrate a special occasion, and thankful we are spending our 36th anniversary here! We just keep on coming back - the staff, our room, the food, the service and amenities - all phenomenal. So appreciative we have a great place to stay on the beautiful island of Maui! Thank you, Marriott!

Place to avoid
Past its prime. No one cares and is so stuck on using old systems their ability to handle any roadbump turns into antagonistic behavior. I had an extremely unpleasant experience with the night manager. I was told there was an issue with processing my credit card that was used during check in (although they successfully processed it for the spa). Due to Marriott's antiquated accounting system, they couldn't process any further payments (no issue on my end), the night manager treated me like a criminal and threatened to evict my family from the property in the middle of the night. The night manager admitted the accounting system had issues and could not give any explanation as to why they were failing. Instead of working with me to come to a better resolution or waiting until the morning to get a hold of accounting support I was meant with extreme suspicion. This on top of the resort losing power for half a day with no hot food, AC, lights, etc... available. This place is on my avoid list.

First Impressions Are Everything
We arrived yesterday and First impressions are everything. Sadly the lady Cami at the front desk for check in provided a horrible first impression. During our check in we inquired about why are room was changed from a king bed to two doubles as we preferred the king. She made it seem as if this was a hardship to her day. After confirming that we could have the room we booked she handed us our keys with no explanation of what the blue bands were for, the resort, or what the resort fee included. I had to go back to the front desk later to inquire. The way we were treated was a stark contrast to the two other couples checking in at the same time. The way Cami treated us has left a very sour taste. Our room is nice, spacious. The bed is hard and not comfy in my opinion. The bathroom does show some age but overall the room is nice. You can however hear every time another room closes their door. The wall adjacent to the hallway is not very sound insulated. The bellhop was very welcoming and kind, I will work to find out his name and update. He told us about features in the room. As we continue our stay I will update my post but wanted to share for now.
