    Not What We Expected

My husband and I visited Zoetry Agua Punta Cana last month. We were excited to try it as we had been looking at going for a few years now and wanted to cross it off our bucket list, as well, we love the Hyatt line of resorts and Zoetry was always rated very highly. One thing to note, my 3 stars is based on our own preferences, so take from it what you will. I would actually give it a 3.5, but that wasn't an option. I had never been to a Wellness resort before, but I love spas so I thought it would be perfect for us. I later realized after a few days that I started to miss the little things - tropical music by the pools, having a buffet option etc...We knew enough to know that these things wouldn't be here, but we thought we'd try it and see how we liked it. The rooms were beautiful - probably the nicest room I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The toiletries as well smelled amazing and were of high quality. Having the shoe shine option included, as well as laundry service (note though, this is only included for up to 3 items of clothing each, once per stay, it's not unlimited for free) were nice bonuses. During check-in, you're allowed to choose a scent which they will pump in to your room during your stay. This was a neat feature, however you couldn't really smell it in your room - but hey, this might be good for those with high sensitivities to smell. The resort itself was exquisite, and although it's small with only 90+ rooms, it doesn't feel like you're boxed in, it's quite spacious. The pools were great - cleaned each day. We especially like the area with the pool bar and went there every day. Having unlimited spa access was also such a nice treat. We went there every day. Each guest also gets a 20 minute spa service included during their stay, and our massages were great. We were assigned a Concierge, which we have experienced before at other Hyatt resorts. This is a nice touch, however we found there wasn't much we needed to reach out to him for - I also think he may have been quite new to the resort himself as I don't think he knew a lot of the rules and regulations of the resort. Please don't take the other reviews regarding mosquitos and bug bites lightly. We brought a ton of bug spray as well as other devices to ward off bugs, but they were persistent. Each morning we woke up very itchy. We're not blaming the resort for this, as it's to be expected with such lush surroundings, just ensure you bring your own bug spray and After Bite. :) Now on to the food - the food was very hit and miss. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was awful. Stay away from the sushi, it was probably the worst sushi I've ever had in my life. The pizza by the pool bar is really good and consistent. We very much enjoyed the Mexican restaurant, everything we had there was great and we went twice during our stay, but those are the only meals we thoroughly enjoyed. Each night, they rotate menus and have 2 available dining spots. I will say, go to the restaurant at night BEFORE you're actually hungry. Service each night took at least an hour and a half, so you'll be waiting quite a while for your meals. Room service is sketchy at best - if you actually get what you ordered, it would be nothing short of a miracle. Also note, that if you have the Do Not Disturb sign on and have ordered room service, they WILL wait and knock repeatedly, even though you have an external cubby for them to leave food. Maid service will also still knock if you have the Do Not Disturb sign on - we had this happen to us several times during our stay. The service - well, I just want to say, it was below average, which came as a shock considering this was the priciest resort we've stayed at. There were some incredible staff members, so it's definitely not everyone that works there - in particular the bartender by the pool, Starlin was AMAZING during our stay. He'd know our orders and have them ready before we even asked. Fernando and Rosey from the Indigo restaurants were also very friendly and made us feel welcomed. So we do take note of great service when it's delivered. The majority of the rest of the staff however, did very little and came across as entitled, just wanting tips and weren't super friendly. To be honest, the lack of good service and the overall mediocre food is what drove this rating down. We so badly wanted to love this place, but it just fell short for us both, especially for the cost. We've now decided to only stay at Secrets Cap Cana if we go back to Dominican because we've been there twice and both times it surpassed our expectations.

A relaxing stay in a beautiful resort

My boyfriend and I went to Zoetry Agua Punta Cana with two other couples. It was such a gorgeous resort, very quiet and relaxing! The pools were beautiful, overlooking the ocean. They had multiple restaurants serving various cuisines like italian, asian, mexican etc. They had many activities throughout the day like yoga, taste testing dominican rum and even a flamenco show our last night. The spa was also incredible we got an amazing couple’s massage! Our concierge Wiris was great! He scheduled a horseback ride on the beach and massages for all 6 of us! He checked in on us daily to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. We would definitely go back to Zoetry Punta Cana!

    A lovely resort, but...

At these prices it should be almost perfect. Instead, we were without hot water two different days (fixed when reported,) mold was growing in the tub at the end of our stay, water pressure was very low, we had to press to get a broken plumbing fixture fixed, and room cleaning didn't get done until almost 3PM one day despite requests for earlier service. Having said all that, it's a beautiful resort, the grounds and pools are gorgeous, the ambiance was wonderful, very relaxing, which is what we wanted. The staff are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

    Wonderful Experience

My wife and I enjoyed Agua for 4 nights in a swim-up room. Room was large, but needed a better in-room sitting option (upholstered chair or small couch). Great bed and shower. Food was good and sometimes great. We were pleased to find high quality nightly entertainment - very talented folks. Often smaller/boutique size hotels/resorts lack something to do after dinner - not Zoetry Aqua. And a big shout out to Jordi at the lobby bar. Horseback riding was super fun. Free massage very nice, and we went for longer treatments another day. Oddly, the giant spa pool was warm and not hot. Bugs not an issue until the last day when the wind died down. Beach was clean within the property boundaries, but lots of plastic waste beyond. Would not hesitate recommending this property or visiting again.

Mosquitoes ruined and otherwise lovely vacation spot.

The review has to begin with the fact that the mosquitoes are unbearable. The resort is lovely. The rooms are beautiful. The service is good if somewhat slow. The staff is friendly. The food is decent, probably diner quality anywhere in the United States, but certainly not fine dining. The included wines are drinkable, but they do try to upsell you for some fairly expensive alternatives. Beginning with the first night we were bitten many many times despite using the citronella repellent lotion provided by the resort. Purchasing “Off “in the store was slightly better but only kept the mosquitoes away for about an hour. Each day added many mosquito bites, mostly to our arms and legs and produced intolerable itching, which got worse the longer we stayed. The mosquito situation at this resort makes it impossible for us to either go back or recommend it to anyone else.
