Terrible and not clean rooms!!!!
The room we got was very humid, smelled of mold, water was dripping from the bathroom ceiling, it was dirty with everything in the bathroom rusty in a miserable condition and the balcony door was broken. There was so much humidity in the room that we ended up getting sick. The other facilities was very nice, the food good enough with many choices, the pool very nice but at the end of the day if don't enjoy your room all the other is nothing. I really don't recommend this hotel!

Great holiday!
We've just arrived home from 11 nights at the Grand so here's some feedback. The Pros: We stayed in villa 1 right by the beach and main pools and it was fabulous, very spacious, huge king size bed, cooler with beers, water and soft drinks topped up daily and even a decent hair dryer and iron/board! The room and resort is spotless, they really do work hard keeping it so beautiful. The buffets had a huge amount of choice and I cannot see how anyone would not find something to eat! The choice was endless. The entertainment during the day around the main pool was fabulous, always something going on and the team really do make so much effort to ensure everyone has lots of fun! The beach is gorgeous but was very busy, nicer to walk up away from the resort as its a bit quieter. Cons: The buffet restaurant in lobby 1, seemed very disorganised, we would wait to be taken to a free table, however we would then wait what seemed like a lifetime for it to be cleaned, given cutlery and provided with drinks! The staff seemed to just be plodding along with no one directing them to be making sure tables are ready and people are given drinks, particularly at busy dinner times. There were so many tables not cleaned and queues of people waiting to get in. We did however find the one in lobby 2 a little better and going at the beginning of the allocated time definitely is a must as everything is set up and ready. We also noticed with the a la cartes we had to keep our cutlery from starters for our main, which seemed a little odd! We didn't really watch much of the evening entertainment mainly as I was put off by the reviews around the mosquitoes being bad in that area, I'd be inclined to agree with that as the times we had to pass through the area or see reception staff, they were definitely around and even they had zappers. Thankfully we didn't get alot of bites but did cover up with bands, sprays and plug in lamps in our room so that along with limited time around the lobby definitely helped. I requested our balcony light was fixed on day 3 and it took 2 app requests, 2 guest services requests and a direct to reception request before anyone came out on day 9 and they were there best part of the day, hence probably the reason it was being put off! However these were not major issues and we still had a great time. Would we go back? Probably not to this hotel but just because we'd like to try somewhere different. Everyone has different expectations but this was our first time on a long haul destination that we spent an awful lot of money on.

Horrible lobby and rooms! They don’t care
Why won’t the resort do something with the MASSIVE mosquito problem that is in the lobby?? Why is it being ignored when everyone who is visiting is getting eaten alive and going home with horrible bites all over- no where is this happening except at the is particular resort. Also, the outdated rooms are in no way safe or health friendly for anyone! There is MOLD and broken tiles and holes in the room? We are paying thousands of dollars for this garbage?

Wouldn't return
Good: Check In quick and bell boy took us to room with cases. Room, block 26, newly renovated room, air con worked well, no complaints. Little golf buggies worked well up and down the beach. Food was plentiful and seemed good quality if not always warm. Beach beautiful and sea very blue. Ala carte restaurants good. Sports bar good fun and best service Beautiful grounds Cons: Never had such bad service anywhere! Always queues at bars and tables not cleared and reset in restaurants. Almost impossible to get a glass even in the lobby bars, making it feel very low end, would expect a glass in a lobby bar. No branded drinks. No diet drinks. Mosquitos all over lobby bars. Beach super crowded and impossible to get beds around main pool after 7am. Entertainment team only go main pool Not enough water stations. Understaffed everywhere Only wine available in buffet restaurants is red or white, no rose or sparkling

A really nice stay
Except for the mosquitoes we had a wonderful time. I would suggest netting around the beds. We all looked like we had chicken pox and the itching and running sores were brutal. Only one in our group of 9 was unaffected. The food was varied and delicious, the pools and beach great, the staff generally courteous. We noticed that the native Dominican Republic people were baby-crazy. Our 5-month-old got so much attention it was heartwarming
- AdvisoryThe Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter. They usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday and run a few days past Easter Sunday. The following regulations may be enforced: -Motorized water sports may be banned -Non-motorized water sports may be limited or banned -Alcohol consumption may be restricted (most resorts get a permit enabling them to serve alcohol to nonnative people during the ban) -Music may be limited or silenced
- AdvisoryThe hotel will renovate 288 rooms with modern designs and high-quality furnishings, enhancing guest comfort. Construction (April 21–Nov 30, 2025) will relocate guests to villas to avoid disruption. Upgrades include pools, restaurants (buffet, Japanese, Grill), lobby, bar, theater, and gym. Affected services will temporarily shift: pools remain open, reception moves to Bouganville, and dining/theater/gym access is redirected. New areas debut Dec 1, with fencing to reduce visual impact.
