Beautiful property, excellent service, dinner food/chocies lack

We stayed 7 days April 15-22 at the Palace Tower 6th floor with an ocean view. I cannot speak to price as we stayed on points but felt for the points it was absolutely worth it. As a Hilton Diamond member, we were able to valet park for the price of self park and our room was not out dated at all as some of the reviews mentioned. We had drinks on our balcony almost every night and loved to have the breeze and thanks to a screen we didn't have to worry about birds. HA. The grounds are amazing. We had our 16 yo daughter with us so it was nice to be central at the Palace Tower since it's close to the lagoon and Buddha point and pool, and further away from the main pool filled with littles. We loved walking everywhere but I could see if you had small children you would def want to stay in the Makai Tower. We rented a cabana at the lagoon one day, and spent most of our time away from the main pool. I will say a downside is that the only chair service is at the main pool and the further away you get, the options become more limited. Pre packaged food at the Buddha point pool. We definitely had less mai tais this way. HAHA. It would be so nice if they had a raoming drink cart like they do on golf courses... premade food and treats and bottled beer, wine, cockails or something. I felt the service overall was impeccable. From Annie at check in to the texting for requests. Anything we asked for arrived within minutes including our luggage at check in. Valet was quick, Scotty at the pool bar was terrific, as well as every server we encountered at Kona Bar and the coffee shop was amaing every single day - quality of drinks, food, and service. The food is why I give this 4 stars. We tried Kamuela Provision Company two nights. The view is incredible for sunset but the food is meh. We ate all of the apps and salads one night. It was just okay and so expensive and then after eating off premise and local, we had a meal there at the end of our stay. TERRIBLE. The pork chop was chewy and bland, the fish dry, they were out of bottles of wine and sparkling we wanted to order and it cost $300. I wish the quality was better for the cost and they sourced locally. That pork chop tasted like Chilis compared to the pork we ate all over the island. Def check out the food at the grocery store at Queens Market and the little bar for happy hour is a gem! Shout out to Mark the bartender for all the great local recommends. Get the poke bowls, spam musabi and all of the desserts! Overall, I would recommend this resort if you know the dinners aren't great, you are prepared to walk, and don't mind not having sandy beach access. We're from soCal so the lagoon was perfectly fine for us.

    Nice hotel but overpriced.

We arrived to an extremely cold room. Maintenance was notified after we called the front desk. We had to wait in the room and they winded up turning central air off and put the room on fan mode. The room remained cold and they brought us blankets. This took time away from our enjoyment of the resort and affected our sleep as the room remained extremely cold. No offer to change rooms etc. Will not stay here again.

    Mixed bag

Pros: . The room was nice and comfortable . The staff were all very pleasant . The grounds were nice and well maintained . The two pools were well maintained and offered different options Cons: . Price is definitely not as advertised. Prepare for the up charges. Parking was about $50 per day. Our "free" breakfast package only covered two of the four of us. Breakfast is $55 per adult and $27.50 for kids. It's overpriced. The restaurants are double the reasonable cost, but you have options off site. I would recommend stocking up on supplies in kona or at the market down the street. The water activities are all surprisingly expensive. Good luck finding lagoon seating and shade without a credit card. . The lagoon is not as advertised. The hotel marketing makes this looks like an Eco friendly animal sanctuary. In reality, it's congested with guests swimming and playing. The entire lagoon is covered in a sheen of sunscreen that can't be good for the animals. That said, we did see a lot of creatures including turtles. We just didn't expect this to be the main and only swimmable beach. Marketing > Reality. We saw multiple turtles in Hapuna Beach down the road, so this isn't unique to the Hilton lagoon. . The buildings are spaced apart in a huge complex. It was a 5 minute walk from parking to the lobby and 10 more minutes to our Palace Tower room. They offer a monorail, but it wasn't very practical. For example, it took us an hour to get changed after a trip to the beach before leaving for another event. . The monorail is a good idea in theory, but not practical. Waits were often more than 10 minutes, the information screens seemed way off. I think a train broke down at one point. We've been to other resorts with a golf cart like tram. Those are way better. All in all, it was a nice resort, but we can't recommend it. And that's a shame.

    Great Improvement

Stayed here for 10 days in April. Wow, the site looks great! Restaurant menus have improved and it was an enjoyble stay. We will be back again. That is the best compliment I can give. I few things need a bit of fine tuning still….. friendless of the car valet….Jo and Joyce are great. Full marks… some of the drivers…well … Mason in bell hop was amazing, so were a couple others whose names Idid not get were Great. Bell hops need to remember that guests are why they work. Not sure about the QR code tipping, many staff seemed to come across as disappointed with not tipping at source, thus giving a negative experience to the guest even though they would likely get tipped through the QR code. I think management of the hotel may want to reconsider this method as not sure it is benefiting everyone or that it is understood well. Spa is looking better. Great improvement. Overall….. a great stay.

Twas a FUNderfully RELAXadociously SMILEtacular time. All the staff, especially ANNIE at the front desk, perpetuated and emanated da “ALOHA SPIRIT” and made my better half’s birthday a memorably special one filled with good fun, ono (yummy) food, and rejuvenating rest and relaxation.
