Good for family activities, tiny bathroom in the newly renovated Palace Tower Grand room
Our second time staying at this location. We stayed at Makai tower last trip and this time, I used Hilton points to stay at the Palace tower. I believe our room was the newly renovated palace tower grand room since there was drilling noise right next to our room and we could see construction going outside near the tower. Since there were already many reviews on the distance to the lobby from this tower and AC not functioning in the train, this review is not going to repeat that and I’d focus on the room itself. The room we stayed at was a standard double bed resort view, the room was spacious, beds were pretty comfortable, new carpet and furniture. But who decided to keep the small bathroom without giving it any update?! The bathroom was so tiny that we were worried that we would not be able to close the bathroom door while using the toilet. And to be fair, I am 5”4.

Stunning landscape, but ethical and maintenance concerns
I stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village for a week during a conference and fully enjoyed the incredible location. The hotel is situated in a truly breathtaking landscape - its garden architecture and the ocean lagoon are an absolute masterpiece, unlike anything I’ve seen before! Walking through the grounds was a highlight of my stay. That said, the hotel itself could benefit from better maintenance, particularly in cleaning the bathrooms and addressing some wear and tear throughout the property, though I understand the challenges of managing such a large location. The prices are striking ( breakfast 55$/person or pasta 55$/person). One important issue I feel compelled to mention is the dolphin captivity. While I appreciated much about the hotel, seeing the dolphins in such a small pool, entertaining guests 45 mins for $300 per person, was disappointing. They have too little space and are forced to follow commands, which I believe is unacceptable. I hope the hotel reconsiders this practice in the future. Overall, a unique experience in a stunning location, but with room for improvement in some areas.

Disappointing start to vacation
Have stayed here in the past and enjoyed our stay. Today however, we were told our room was not ready after we arrived after the guaranteed check in time. They did however tell us that another room was available if we were willing to pay for the upgrade. I declined so I had to wait around with my toddler and crying four month old in the lobby. Eventually, after more complaining, they did upgrade us to a partial view room. Once we got to the room, the disappointment continued. Room was not clean at all. There were crumbs in multiple places around the room. Windows were dirty. There was no shower gel in the bathroom. This is our third stay here and hopefully it will improve or we won't be coming back.

Clean, peaceful stay in a convenient location with great views
My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa during our recent trip to the Big Island. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, even grabbing me a handful of bandaids when I tore my feet up with new sandals. The beachside location is peaceful while still being close to a couple smaller shopping centers with restaurants. Kona airport was about a 20 min drive, and Kailua-Kona was only another 10 min from that. Our large room was clean, and had a wonderful view of both the ocean and the dolphin lagoon. There is a monorail that runs throughout the day from one end of this massive resort to the other, but we chose to walk everywhere. Despite concerns over some fairly negative reviews, we went to the breakfast buffet twice and enjoyed our meal both times. Even getting to watch a dolphin show the second time. We also had dinner at one of the other hotel restaurants, NUI Italian food and enjoyed a very good pizza there. The hotel had a couple pools, which were pretty busy during the day and completely empty after sundown. They do have the option to rent snorkel equipment and paddle boards, but unfortunately, it appeared to just be a daytime thing and we never got around to trying it. They do have paid parking on site, but it is a pretty good walk from the entrance so we chose to pay for the valet instead. If you use valet, make sure you give yourself a little extra time because they can get backed up quickly when there's a rush.

So not happy
The room was great - the view of the ocean was fabulous! But they didn’t tell us about the surgeon conference, They took precedence over everyone else who paid good money to stay here. We tended to go to the bar near the entrance for a nightcap.. it’s about a half a mile walk back to the room. One night they had a private party that was supposed to be over at 7pm. But when we came they said it would be another 45 minutes. So what is one supposed to do? You’re a half a mile from your room and basically isolated from anything else. Happy vacation, right?
